read a good story about casey in the Irish sunday mirror today about him advising limerick youths in the city to stay away from crime
Got the Dunne book in town yesterday. 2 chapters in so far not as bad as some of the **** boxing books I have read in the past. Talking about his junior stuff fighting in the ams.
any1 see that **** in the sunday mirroe today they were on bout southhill in limerick and there boxing champion willie haye
ya thats the one i was readin earlier on. Those lads at that paper obviously know a lot about boxing. Its a good article though and its nice to see that Caseys getting more coverage now
I wouldnt be too hard on rigo tbh its only his 7th fight plus it was a clash of styles two southpaws and two counter punchers .you know what they say styles make fights
Totally agree Moorser. I thought he won handy (enough-ish). Rock and a hard place job, IMO. People saying he has to be pushed 'cos of his age, ability, etc. But Cordoba is no mug and is some scalp at 7 fights in. He's a novice pro who won doing what he does best. There's plenty time to improve, but we've all been impatient to see him do it NOW. Whatever result, he would have been criticised. Horrible clash of styles too. As for that rather bemusing FAS ad, I'm thinking (and this is just an opinion) - Hamish Thomas's way of getting a permanent work visa/permit for a foreign trainer? By advertising on FAS and other sites, he shows the Dept of Enterprise he's looking for an Irish person to do the job. Considering he wants someone with international experience, he can then show the Dept that there was no able Irish person to do the job, and therefore justifies giving the gig to an American/South American/etc, ergo compelling the awarding of a permanent work visa for a foreign trainer. BTW, glorious news coming out of Manchester. Congrats to Leonard (slappy) and Amanda on the arrival of Ciaran Sonny Gunning, who arrived this morning. Mum, dad and young Ciaran all doing well, I believe. Great stuff, Leonard - another argumentative Sligeach to break our balls for years to come. Yaboy!
I'm glad Cordoba took him the distance. In the build up there was a lot of "Well if Bernard Dunne could KO him..." kind of **** flying around on here and loads of people predicting an early KO for Rigo.
Yeah there is definitely some satisfaction in that. I know they are two totally different fights and two very different opponents for Cordoba. But there was loads of 'If Dunne can KO him then Rigo will beat him inside 3 rounds because Dunne was shite so therefore Cordoba is shite' style opinions flying around. Cordoba is a good ****ing fighter and he extended Rigondeaux as most of us with a brain thought he would. The result does Dunnes legacy, in terms of the biggest win of his career, no harm at all
