Talking about deducting Audleys purse. Just ridiclious. He didn't do anything different to his other 30 fights. The board should be brought into question for sanctioning the fight. The questions and critics should be taking aim at them, sky tv and Hayemaker.
i did not buy the fight and am i glad now, but on radio bunce was saying to some bloke who was complaining about it being a waste of money that he did not have to buy it and had bought into cause of the good build up which is a fair point but if you buy something and it does not do what it says in advertising you usually get some sort of recourse but it seems sky can sell a pile of **** by dressing it up and saying it is not a pile of **** surely a case of false advertising.
I agree that the BBB of C has made a silly statement and your point about the board sanctioning the bout has value. But SKY TV and Hayemaker promotions are not to blame. I am guessing anyone who paid to go to the fight, or paid their £14.95 to watch it on TV, was at least aware one of the strong scenarios to the fight was what happened. People had to be aware they were paying for the buzz of the fight and the excellent promotional work that both fighters and their camps put into the show. A good fight, was merely going to be an added bonus.
People only watched the fight to see Audley so taking his purse away would stink. Everybody including the board knew this was going to be the exacvt outcome of the fight so acting all offended by his display now is bull****. Audley helped sell the fight to all its potential so let him keep his money.
Not this again... Audley was, rightly or wrongly, in the top 15 as a result of winning the European belt. The board had no cause to refuse to sanction the fight just because you'd prefer he fought the Klitschkos. Audley passed the medicals, had a valid licence and that was it. But they can question the fact he made no effort to fight. And that is totally valid, same as when James Douglas deceided to stay on the canvas rather than face a tough night against Holyfield. He quit for no reason. As for the rest of it... blah, blah, blah.
Exactly. If people were paying for the hype and promotion rather than the fight itself then Audley has more than earned his money. Punishing Harrison by deducting his purse will only deflect the blame from the real culprits which are the con men at Sky and the Board itself for sanctioning such a fight.
The question i want to ask is what made Audley a more deserving challenger than Fury (English champ) or Chisora (British champ). Both have been cleaning up the domestically and would of been alot better challengers to fight against Haye. Audley won prizefighter and since when was this a credible boxing tournament and won a vacant strap against Sprott (who would lose to fury or chisora anyway). This fight was a disgrace when made, and was even more of a disgrace when the first bell rang. Criminal the lot of it, I for one hopes either Klit ktfo Haye out of sheer redemption...
To be fair to audley, he didn't stay down after taking some big shots. The whole event was a farce, terrible for boxing in the end and i'll be glad when we're back talking about decent match ups. Plus points to be taken from Sat.. Haye looks set to fight Wlad next I thoroughly enjoyed the punditry for the event. The strength/weakness thing would be brilliant, if done with genuine 50/50 match ups(williams martinez for eg) Jamie Moore looked more relaxed in front of camera.
I agree. It was a pointless fight with the only amusement being HArrison's post-fight comments. I thought Watt did a really good job and Mcguigan is an excellent addition. He worked really well with Nelson. And I loved the strengths-weakness bit too. If Haye doesn't fight Wlad next, then this fight was inexcusable.
why does Haye look set to fight Wlad next? Didn't he sign to fight him in Junr 2009 and back out. Wasn't he going to figth him after Ruiz but turned down 50-50 no options to figth Fraudley??
To be fair, there was nothing between them untill the 3rd. Bar the knockout haye was as guilty for stinking out the place whether it was for his bet or not......
