I apologise if there has been a tread about this. But what do you guys think about this fight to be FOTY. I thought i was at least EOTY, to think about it - does pacquiao have the unofficial Event Of The Year for the last 3 yrs... 2010 Margarito 2009 Cotto 2008 De la Hoya
FOTY must be more competitive than Pac-Margo, which was a one sided beatdown. So far, I go with Froch-Kessler.
It's a landslide win for Pac!! But Margo did his thing, hurt Pac a little, never backed down, Throw his share of punches!! But look at the Big Crown reception?? Look at any of the Fans reaction for even those who watched the PPV on tv? There's nothing even close to this fight this year!! I say Fight of the year for me!!!
There hasn't been too many real good fights this year, for action and competitive nature. Pacquiao-Margarito was far too one-sided to be the Fight of the Year. It was a massacre.
You can put 2 evenly bad or good fighters against eachother and add some balls, then you'll have a competitive fight. But a fight this magnitude to deliver this excitement and satisfication to both of fighters fans and none the less the casual. And the fact it saved a boxing night when Haye-Harrison match almost ruined it...
The Sky Sports broadcast team already dubbed it FOTY. I thought it was very entertaining from start to finish; despite the fact Manny probably won every round, Margarito held his own and never really seemed out of the fight until probably round 11.
I dont consider a FOTY, because 1) it was too one sided 2) the result was a foregone conclusion, as the styles of the fighter would dictate 3) MArgo was never really in the fight. Now Froch-Kessler was a war. It was meaningful fight with 2 top 10 dudes, and there was back and forth action for all 12 rds, especially the last round where they let it all hang out. Also, the result of that fight was not a foregone conclusion, as with Pac-Margo.
