EDINBURGH boxer Kenny Anderson has been tipped to bounce back to title glory following his weekend defeat to George Groves, writes BRIAN DONALD.
Former WBO super-middleweight champion Steve Collins saw similarities between himself and Anderson during the Capital fighter's sixth-round stoppage by Groves as they battled for the Commonwealth title on the undercard of the David Haye-Audley Harrison bout in Manchester on Saturday.

Collins, who mentored Anderson in his early pro days, said: "Right now, Kenny will be feeling as I felt back when I lost key fights to guys like Mike McCallum and I began to wonder if I'd ever win a major title.

"However, I stuck in and eventually beat Chris Eubank for the WBO crown but it was a long, hard road back after my early setbacks so Anderson has got to shrug off this defeat and I believe that he can and will.

"As he sits hurting from his loss from Groves my advice to Kenny is this first defeat is really a blessing in disguise because he will get many more fights now as rival managers will think - wrongly in my opinion - that he will be on the slide. That's what happened to me - I didn't get my big chance until managers and promoters thought I was on the decline so opening up title fight chances that had been previously blocked."

I would love to see a rematch between Groves and Anderson. The fight was very entertaining from the build up to the ring action itself and it could be argued that the fight was very close but I am not sure either man wants anything to do with the other so soon.

Groves-Anderson was the only shining light from the whole Haye-Harrison shite.

Really enjoyed Andersons performance and watching him fight, and despite coming up short against Groves he should have made quite a few new fans.

Will he be going up to 175 or will he stay where he is? I would't mind seeing him against Jeffries sometime in 2011.

I would love to see this again with Anderson getting a full 10-12 week training camp to prepare... I cannot gauge this properly on 2 weeks notice...:yep

He looked great against Groves until he ran out of gas, I hope that isn't the last we see of him.

How did that fight get stopped .His chin wasn't even tested it's supposed to be solid .Look at the punishment Margarito took .Anderson hardly took a step back that whole fight .He was never hardly hurt . He was still walking Groves down in the sixth , biased.

Groves should give him a rematch with 8 weeks notice, he was beating Groves until it was stopped unfairly.

What's that then? Anderson dominates then gasses due to the fact the was given 14 days notice and had trouble making the weight, Groves hits him with a few shots and the ref steps in.

    Fitness beat Anderson not Groves.
