Adamek - Why fight Maddalone?

He went up to HW. The Golota fight was an obvious debut fight a big Polish name in Poland. Estrada had a good record and Arreola was when he made his HW statement. Grant was a step down, but his size and stature was aimed at assessing a Klitchko fight.

But Maddalone I cannot see why. As a mark time opponent I could understand, but you do not need a big build up. Are his promoters simply milking a golden goose rather than building up a contender?

It is 2 days before Klitchko v Chisora, and presumably Adamek could have been fighting for the HW belt instead of Chisora

doesnt sound like he was offered the Klitchko fight, March with Vitali i believe wouldve/couldve happened at MSG in NYC but DonKing/WBC? blocked that for a mandatory.

this is his 4th fight this year, Arreola was a tough real contender fight, Golota his 1st like you said and Grant provided a tougher time, he's allowed to take a easy one this time.

Im sure his next will be something of name or stature in March/April. A shame HAYE won't fight him.

Strange choice but at least he's active.

You omitted Estrada which gives 5th this year.

Adamek in his latest interview said they were trying to get a contact with Haye camp.

Because bluntly, and I don't expect to hear this from anyone in Team Adamek, the Grant fight ended up tougher than they expected so they're trying to quietly take a step back for a fight or two.

They should bring him over the the UK for a fight due to our big polish population. A Michael Sprott or Martin Rogan in the other corner would do.

Sosnowski is the logical soft opponent for him

He makes a nice little earner in these low risk fights, better than people think. Huge polish community in newark and surrounding areas and having a locally based fighter who can put bums on seats in the states is a very rare commodity these days. In all honesty after the Grant fight, i think he knows himself he needs more experience against bigger fighters before fighting the Klitschko's.

It is actually pretty praise-worthy how Duva and Adamek are able to get these cards going and make good profit from them, thanks to Adamek's strong support. They're in a strong and rare position where they're not relying on dates from HBO or Showtime...they can just go ahead with the fight anyway, make good coin at the gate and get someone else for the tv coverage.

    Haye - Why fight Harrison?

    Maddalone > Harrison

and Harrison was a opponents for a "title defense", this is just a fight to stay busy til a Madison Square Garden offer comes from Team Vitali....

Seems fairly pointless really, but at least he's active. After the Grant fight he clearly needs more work before he's ready for a Klitschko. Don't really blame him for taking an easier fight after having a busy year
