Obviously in most bouts that shot wouldn't land and if it did it wouldn't have been as perfect. Martinez is not a one shot KO puncher but that was about as perfect as a punch can get.

Luck had nothing to do with it. Martinez had no problem landing clean shots in the first fight and Williams defence was non existent. Just goes to show it doesn't matter what physical attributes you possess if your defence is non existent you'll get punished for it sooner or later.

I don't think so. out of 1000 fights I think he lands it 200 times. Maybe more. Lucky punches simplify things and that will help Williams accept the loss and move on, but he was sticking his chin out there to be hit. That is not luck. Luck or fluke was when Starling was hit by Molinares.

    you're still missing the point.

he can land 200 left hooks on paul williams (in fact i think he nearly has). i don't think any of them will be a one-punch-KO. he's not a one-punch-KO kind of fighter and PW never gets KOed like that. that night he did, however, because of a very lucky punch. everything went right that punch....martinez's last 200 attempts didn't KO.

i think you proved my point.
martinez had no trouble finding williams's chin either fight. PW just shrugged it off.

and williams has always been a willing target.

if it wasn't luck, then martinez is the best puncher p4p in boxing.

Martinez worked on that shot, being that he had success fromit in the first fight. With Williams coming in a little more aggressive disregarding his defence, just made that left of Martinez that much more dangerous of a shot. It was not luck, Martinez saw how it was working and was timing Paul, and in that last left he really threw it with conviction. Look at the replay, Look at Martinez body language right before he throws it.

It's like he was landing it and landing it, then said alright time to time him and sit on it on this one and crack, no luck, just timing.

He hit PW around 3 times clean with that same punch in the second round. Luck had nothing to do with it

I think they would. I think if Martinez fought the Williams he fought on Sat. over and over, he would probably score one punch knockouts almost everytime. Now it might not land after Williams knows what to look out for, but on Sat. he was careless and Martinez kept throwing that punch and still Williams did not raise his guard. That was not a fluke. I never bought into the fluke stuff. When McCallum hit Curry, Donald was moving back and standing still. Hearns got careless with Barkley when he had he been careful and kept working the body in a relaxed fashion he would have scored a 4th round TKO over Barkley. For a one punch knockout to happen someone made a big mistake. Tommy is my favorite fighter, but I know the mistake he made. He liked to brawl and score knockouts and knock guys out and he left himself open. But Hearns learned and later was better defensively. But Tommy fought tall normally. Tommy is great, Williams is not.
