Anderson's sole focus is a rematch with George Groves

    By Shaun Brown

Despite losing narrowly to George Groves earlier this month, Scotland’s Kenny Anderson has only one thing on his mind… and that’s George Groves.
Such was the closeness of the contest throughout the six rounds that the fight lasted, Anderson focus is on nothing else – he craves a rematch with the Commonwealth Super-Middleweight champion. And the Scot doesn’t care about the money, the title or the location – he just wants Groves. “I’ll fight him in London for nothing on one of his home shows. I’m not bothered about the title, just twelve; three minute rounds at 12 stone. Me versus him and after that I’ll shut my mouth,” Anderson declared.
The bout was chief support to the David Haye – Audley Harrison fight and proved to be one of the more memorable highlights from that night’s card. Anderson had taken the fight at a couple of weeks’ notice and was seen by many as Groves’ biggest test to date. It was a fight of ups and downs as the Scot continually hunted down his English opponent with thudding success. Most observers were stunned at how easy Groves was allowing himself to be hit. And despite his trainer Adam Booth telling him “Don’t slug with the slugger” in Groves’ corner, the advice fell on deaf ears. He abandoned his game plan and went into the trenches with Anderson and looked over the edge into a potential boxing abyss as his tactics played right into the hands of his formidable challenger.

the ref was right to stop the fight but I think a rematch would be good. Still shouldn't happen right away. If Kenny wants a rematch he should earn it.

    Just sour grapes from Anderson

“Can he look at himself in the mirror and be satisfied with our fight? If it was me I couldn’t. Is he just going to be a coward and not fight me again? I don’t want a warm-up, I want Groves, I want him!!

Ok so why didn't you offer a rematch to Patrick Mendy who allot of people felt beat you??

If he wants the fight, get himself into a position to become Groves mandatory if he wins the British. Otherwise keep it quiet. He lost by 6th round stoppage FFS

Anderson was still walking him down in the 6th .I think the ref jumped in to soon .I read Anderson said he wasn't even hurt .I hate stoppages like that we could have got a few more exciting rounds .

I am a kenny anderson fan and would like to see a remach at somepoint with a full training camp specifically for groves but I dont think the stoppage was that controversial as even Anderson didnt seem to argue much wen it was stopped at the time.

Still walking him down at the beginning of the round.....but not in the middle where Groves hit him with 10 unanswered shots and Kenny showed no signs of throwing back.

Because Mendys was happy with the result as was his manager however if he know feels unhappy I'm pretty sure Anderson would be happy to fight him.

The stoppage was bull ****, by who other than the worst ref about Paris up until then Anderson was winning the fight quite easily.

I agree but Anderson needs to earn it with more than just words.

I thought it was a weak but understandable stoppage. After the punishment Groves was given in rounds 2, 3 and 4, the one time Anderson got backed up at the end of the 6th and didn't through back it was stopped. But this kind of thing happens all the time where the favoured prospect gets all the advantages yet the ref jumps in asap for their 'opponent'.

I don't think a rematch would do that much anyway as Groves should box a much smarter and better fight next time out.

the difference was Groves was always throwing shots back. Anderson got hit with 10+ unanswered shots which warrents a stoppage.

It was stopped a bit early, no doubt about that. Refs jump in far too early too often.

That said I watched the fight for the first time on YouTube having read what people on here were saying. I was under the impression Groves was getting destroyed and was about to get sparked out at any point and that was noway near the case.

I think every boxing fan in Britain should demand a rematch. A fight when both are fit willing and able plus given the right time to prepare would be fantastic.

I thought the stoppage was early but fair due to Anderson accepting it and wanting a way out at that point.

10+ unanswered shots did he?, well he must be ****ing he-man to have still been standing then.

I think the stoppage would have been fair enough if it was a shitty 6 rounder and the guy who was stopped was losing the fight anyway, but Anderson was winning the fight and Groves was taking punishment on the ropes several times through the fight, was knocked down etc and the ref never stepped in, the first time Anderson looked in any kind of trouble the ref stepped in.
