So what they have done with Rhodes is how we should judge them overall?

 

You got Denton Vassell, Martin Murray who could be defending there commonwealths agasint British fighters become mandatory for the british but are instead fighting unknown south americans for international belts.

Craig Watson has just been left to rot. He beat the European champion but they have him fighting at light middle. He is a ticket seller.

They let Kenny Anderson take a fight with Groves at 2 weeks notice when he has a British title eliminator. I guarentee if the Smith/DeGale fights went to PB he would get paid more than he got for Groves.

 

Definetly fair to say that Hayemaker and Hatton promotions has been a bag of wank on the whole so far.

 

If its handled correctly Anderson taking the Groves fight will be best thing that could happen to Andersons career.

One minute you want these gladiators fighting for glory, the next its about how much money they could have got if they'd have taken an easier fight. Be consistent Rob instead of just T-ing off on your pet hates.

 

So you're criticising them for taking a risk with Anderson, which so nearly paid off, to win the Commonwealth title and gain a lot more prominence after his career pretty much stagnated since the King fight?

Watson is only fighting at light middle, at least for the time being, due to saving a show that almost collapsed. Yet, he got a Commonwealth title out of it, so it's not all bad. He's already stated in the past he'll be going back down to welter.

Yes, Vassell and Murray could be, and should be, fighting better opposition. I can understand why Murray isn't defending the title this weekend, with the card having quite a few high profile fighters. Obviously, they're budgeting and Murray's opponent is one them 'budget cuts' for this show. If Vassell's fight is screened on Sky, then I'm not going to come up with any excuses for his opponent. But, if it's not, then you can see why Hatton Promotions aren't bringing in a more expensive opponent. Harsh especially on the paying fans at the shows, but how many Commonwealth/British title fights do you see that don't get any TV coverage these days?

Don't they only have 8 shows on Sky a year? Again, another problem with them getting good fights all the time for their fighters. It might mean one of their head-liners only get's a headline fight once a year on their shows. So, you might see higher profile fighters on undercard's just so they can keep the rust off.

There are negatives to their promotion, but for the most part they've been good for domestic boxing. Hatton Promotions' cards, IMO, are generally the best overall in this country. And that includes cards that are just web streamed. And that shows when you look at the best undercard fights this year (Crolla vs Morris, Maxwell vs Wilson, Renda vs Samuels II etc.).

 

I'm starting to worry about Rhodes.

Good records, awful fighters. The Brazilian domestic scene is truly horrific and has been for a long time. Truly pales in comparison to the strong Argentinian scene.

 

Even if he does get KO'ed in one it would be one of his better performances In england

 

Why is he fighting this guy? To be honest I've never really understood why boxing fans have always paid such a keen interest in Rhode's career.

He's been around for what seems like forever, but what's so special about him? I'm not knocking the guy, so perhaps somebody could fill me in on what I clearly don't see?

 

Werent you going around saying you were now buying the PPV because that fight was made a few weeks back?

If Anderson had turned Groves down you've have gone mental with the "Duckderson" "Ducky Anderson" crap.
