To most observers, this weekend’s WBA super middleweight title fight between reigning undefeated champion and 2004 Olympic Gold medalist Andre Ward [22-0, 13 KOs] and tough trial horse Sakio Bika is nothing but a mismatch.

It’s true, Bika [28-4-2, 19 KOs] has fought top opposition in the past and has always come up short. It’s also true that he is virtually the same fighter today that he was five years ago, despite winning the Contender championship [and squandering that win by fighting two rounds in the past two years since]. It’s also true that this fight is outside the confines of the Super Six World Boxing Classic format, meaning that win or lose, Ward moves onto the semi-finals.
That may be the most interesting subplot of this fight, which takes place on Showtime this Saturday night in Oakland, California at the Oracle Arena as part of a double-header that also features the much more evenly-matched bout between Arthur Abraham and Carl Froch.
If Bika were to somehow mount the upset, what would that mean for the tournament? In short, it would reduce the entire thing to a sham. Imagine Ward, the odds-on favorite and only remaining undefeated fighter left in a tournament that has seen its share of drama, lying flat on his back with Bika holding the WBA title. Now imagine you are Showtime, trying to convince viewers that despite this result, the Super Six will still determine the world’s best super middleweight.

The entire thing was reduced to a sham a long time ago. It's now known as the super nine world classic cluster****. If not for Froch and Abraham the whole thing would have been a dismall failure.

And by the way, I hope Bika beats that piece of trash religious fanatic so bad his grandchildren are born knocked the **** out!

If Ward actually loses this fight, it's true that the Super Six will take another huge blow. But I wouldn't care much because I would be laughing my #ss off!

On the contrary, if Bika beats Ward then Super 6 suddenly gets a hell of a load better imo. Seems to be as though Ward's been rather groomed this entire thing. He's had points given to him and had the easiest draw of all the fighters, not to mention he's had every fight in his home town with handpicked officials.

I'd love nothing more than to see him get brutally KO'd, hopefully by a career ending headbutt.

Boxing is the only sport where people who are not in Top10-20-30'ish are called bums. If they are outside Top100 they are called tomato cans.

I agree that Ward is a huge favourite and that Bika is not an elite fighter. I still think that calling him a bum a tad disrespectul.

    Just my opinion...

Bika at his best is B- to B level. Slightly better than just borderline world class.

The future of the Super Six is in the hands of Froch and Abraham, not this billy goat
