You have to give the guy his props: He's beaten a former middleweight champion [EDIT: Two former middleweight champions, including one undisputed MW champion; thanks to the posters below], a top super middleweight contender and the current light heavyweight champion. And he's now a super middleweight champion himself.

Yes, he did lose to Kessler. But, unlike a guy such as Andre Ward, he had the guts to go on the road and fight Kessler in Dermark. So, he's got that going for himself as well.

How do you rate him, given the quality of the men he has beaten?

He never defeated Dirrell... he got spanked all night long and was given a hometown obvious gift

You forgot his TKO12 Jermaine Taylor, former undisputed middleweight chamion.

But yeah, I rate him highly. He'll fight anyone anywhere. He's a true warrior and the savior of British boxing after it plumbed such low depths a couple of weeks ago.

No, he definitely beat Dirrell. You can't fight as negatively as Dirrell fought and expect to win a decision. Dirrell is actually the least impressive victory of the three I mentioned. He's never been a full-fledged champion like Abraham and Pascal. Also, Dirrell's reputation is junk now after the Ward fiasco.

    Great point. :good

Froch has either beaten the guy or beaten the guy who beat the guy in three different divisions. That deserves respect.

    What is Taylor, chopped liver?

Taylor's is the more impressive scalp than Dirrell's, and Froch won that fight more decisively (ignoring the scorecards...a KO always trumps a razor-thin decision).

Froch has beaten two former middleweight champions.

Froch's wins look more impressive then anyone elses in the super middleweight division.

Props to Froch on the big win.

As a Brit it's absolutely shocking how little-known he is to the casual fan. He should be an absolute star in this country but his career has for the most part been awfully mis-managed.

Love Froch, an absolute credit to the sport and absolutely delighted for him tonight. :happy:happy

Froch may be damn ugly to look at in the ring but you cannot dispute the results that he gets. Tough as nails and doesn't hesitate to travel to beat the crap out of his opponents.
What more could you ask for? (despite not acting like a jackass sometimes, but that has nothing to do with his boxing).

    Great points!

I honestly forgot about Taylor when I wrote the post. Sad to see how far Jermain's star has fallen.

He deserves a lot of credit.I thought he would lose tonight and he proved me wrong. He has not only beaten the guys mentioned here, his only loss is a close decision to Mikkel Kessler.Kessler is a proven class act.No shame at all in Froch`s only loss.He is very much on his way to proving what he said at the start of his career that he is a better fighter than Calzaghe. What he did tonight was at least equal to Calzaghe v Lacy.
