I thought Bayless stopped the fight a bit to early. Sure Katsidis took a great deal of punishment, but thats still boxing and he could have gone on...
    Thoughts?

Why? He was clearly hurt and didn't protest the stoppage one bit. No need for a nice fellow like Katsidis to take unneeded punishment.

I was shocked for a second, but after mulling it over, I get it and I feel okay about it. JMM's power, finishing ability, the whole momentum in his favor, Katsidis being an extremely brave, tough, pressure fighter who was on his bike was a BAD sign, his legs were rubbery, he didn't protest the stoppage at all that I could see, he wasn't really throwing much of anything that I can recall and maybe I'm reading into it too much, but I did have to wonder when Merchant mentioned the knockdown and Kat said "When I knocked him down?" if it was just a moment of not thinking or if he actually didn't know that he hadn't been knocked down himself.

My initial thought were it was an early stoppage, but then after watching the replay, i lost count of how many flush shots JMM landed, kats legs were gone and he was going backwards for the first time in the fight and not throwing punches or able to stop the punches from JMM. fair stoppage in my eyes.

    Hats off to both men.

FAR too early, Fighters FIGHT! Go back and stop Corrales Castillo and what would have happened? NO comeback punch from Corrales. Anything could have still happened so to put it blunt F**K YOU BAYLESS!!!

Katsidis didn't raise his gloves once to protect himself from Marquez attack. The referee was looking right into katsidis eyes to see if he had given up and he had.

Just look at the reaction when he is stopped, Katz is emotionless, he gave everything but knew he came up short. No shame in losing to a great boxer like Marquez. Also no need to take a sustained beating especially after the heart ache he has just been through.

No the stoppage was right on point, hes brother just passed, it would be too much if he got KO'd or beat up for 1-2 more rounds. Great heart, Katsidis.

The ref saved Katsidis from a highlight reel KO and some brain damage, no problem with the stoppage. Just rewatching the end right after it finished and it was clear that Kats didn't have much left. Good stoppage. Marquez was catching him at will and Katsidis will fight on another day.

anyone who think it was too early gor look at the fight again. katsidis took like 20 clean punches in a row and threw nothing back. bayless had no choice.

Love how everyone says GOOD STOPPAGE and yet JUST ANSWER MY QUESITON!!! IF Corrales was stopped WHICH GOING BY THIS WAS FARRRRRRRRRRRRRrrrrrrrrrr more of a beating and dropped TWICE in the round what would that fight have become if not the greatest of all time BECAUSE of one moment when Corrales turned the fight with 1 punch to turn the tide.

It happens and it might not have this time around but thats the problem we will never know. Wanna stop fights early fine but don't take away the honour to go out in a blaze of glory.

Katsidis is the kind of fighter that has to be protected from himself. Notice that he didin't complain. Fair stoppage from Bayless.

Well thats not correct Kats landed a nice left hook a moment before Bayless stoped it, that means he was still responding, he wasnt down before so i dont see why he stopped it. Bayless should a least let him finish the round...

my rule is this, IF THE GUY who looses isnt bitching or protesting, then it is never an early stoppage...cuz he ACCEPTED defeat..... like FOREMAN vs ali, the ref counted forman out at nine....cuz he was on his feet before ten, but instead of protesting, foreman , just bowed his face and walked with the L .....
