If they let Pacquiao Margarito go on there's no excuse to stop this one. Mick wasn't the one put down and he as being competitive.

I thought the ref was entitled to give Kats a standing 8 count, there was only half a minute to go and it was clear Mick was hurt by the upper cut earlier in the rd.

there was no standing 8 count in the rules they fought under... he had no choice but to waive it off. in hindsight kats may have benefitted from taking a knee to get the count, but with a heart like his he never would

Fair enough, yeah a knee wld've kept him in the contest......... I was disappointed about the stoppage but when he was interviewed he was ok with it so i guess i am as well.

in the heat of the moment i was a bit perplexed, but in hindsight i think it was a good stoppage, and like you say Kats had no problem with it. it reminds me of a mate of mine who was fighting for a QLD title and there were no standing 8 counts and the ref waived it off in the 8th!! it was a very close fight and we all thought it was a **** weak stoppage until we spoke to our mate after and he said he did not remember the 8th round so the ref did the right thing

At first I was disappointed in the stoppage, but when watching that round again I think it was the right thing to do. He was taking alot of flush shots and although trying to return offensive was weak.

Trust me if Kats trainer didn't like the stoppage he would of been on the mic throwing a tantrum.

It was reasonable, even if Kats had come back with few shots JMM would have just stepped it up further. I don't think he had much left anyway, he took a heap of clean shots.

So you REAL fans wanted Kats to be handed more unnecessary punishment just so you would get more of a spectacle?

Kats was not going to win that fight in a million years. You could clearly see that his punches had weakened considerably compared to the earlier rounds. He was getting hit with flush power punches and being totally outclassed at that stage. Boxing is sport, not gladiatorial combat. Too many head shots over a career leads to brain damage.

If the fight wasn't stopped when it was, there's every chance Mick would've left the ring on a stretcher IMO.

i have future telling powers plus a but of patrick jane mentalist thrown in. Katsidis was about to throw a desperation haymaker which through his over confidence Marquez was gonna walk into.
