You can still score points with a broken hand. And even Kessler said it wasn't that much of a factor before and after the fight.

Ocular damage messes up a someone who uses distance measurement and timing to a great degree. And who uses both those things, KESSLER.

Calzaghe also had broken hand problems which is why he never really threw shots with any conviction after breaking it several times in a row.

it's embarassing that a fighter of joe's ability needed to wait until both jones and hopkins started losing before he overcame a 'fear of flying' and fought them...isn't it?[/quote]

the word after from the likes ok Eubank was that RJJ dodged Calzaghe for the old high risk low reward scenaro. However why the **** does a champion need to go over the pond to prove himself, aint it bout time you passport dodgers got over your fear of flying and came to the home of boxing and proved yourselves. How many fans would follow "their fighters". None.

never really likes calzaghe. i am a brit but could see through the lines and how he was warrens cash cow for what seemed like years. Incredibly talented, doesn't turn his punches properly and insanely fit. Shame the most was never made of him. I just couldn't be arsed with being served up with calz vs some average euro fighter cos we all new what the outcome was going to be. What made it worse was that we had a prime jones, toney and hopkins all operating around the same weight. Calzaghes reluctance to go and unify the division when it mattered told me plenty - sitting on the crappy wbo strap claiming the likes of jones should fly to wales to fight him.. That is not a dominant champion willing to fight any one any where in order to unify the division and prove he is the best.

Basically just doing enough to hold onto the wbo strap for numerous years doesn't quite cut it. Froch has had by far the more interesting fights for me, travelling into the lions den etc etc. He is a mans man and a mans champion.

as for calzaghe can we honestly say he left it all in the ring like froch is and will continue to do. Calz left too many question marks hence threads like these..

Real fight fans know it is ludicrous to ask this question.

Froch did well last night, but don't compare him with Calzaghe for a long time yet.

One was a consummate skilled boxer. The other is flawed and has looked crap in 2 of his last 4 fights and was very lucky to win two of them too. People who doubt Calzaghe tend to be the type that end up in mental institutions in later life. The man was a boxing great who Jones avoided whilst he could and who handed Hopkins his backside on a platter. Just accept it.

Froch is not too far off IMO.

Had he beaten Kessler it would have been 50-50.

Give Froch some time, he is bigger than Calzaghe so would be more effective at LHW aswell. Also adding one or two from, Johnson, Ward, or Bute, would make his resume increase.

You obviously dont know the full facts, because Calzaghe was happy to travel to fight Hopkins and Jones in America years ago, and both priced out and fought lesser fighters for lesser money instead. Only someone of real ignorance dosent know the details of how Hopkins backed out.
Still Calzaghe beat Hopkins when he was Ring LHW champ, P4P #3 and beat Hopkins at a new weight sandwiched between Hopkins best wins of Tarver, Wright and Pavlik. Funny how you think Hopkins was losing .
Calzaghe did travel, and won. It looks like Froch is doing that also.
I wonder if Ward will leave Jokeland where he gets it all his own way and fight Froch away?
