Just a thought. Or is he totally stuck in his style now?

The way Froch took away all of Abraham's opportunities was impressive, but could Abraham learn how to effectively counteract opponents who use movement and the jab to keep him off-balance?

    What could Arthur do differently?

i think it could be too late for a new trainer to change his ways. i find it strange that someone as experienced as him has no b plan anyway.

Its worth a try, he's being written off as completely useless which I feel is unfair. Both Dirrel and Froch fought beautifully and deserve FULL credit for their wins.

well, i thought Dirrell just threw pitty-pat shots all night, but Carl's performance was incredible. it's not really about credit, but Abraham didn't have any ideas when Froch wouldn't engage with him.

Wegner was telling Abraham he was a coward in the corner. He was telling him that Froch wanted it more than him and that Abraham was too much of a coward to throw punches. Abraham kept saying, "I don't know what's wrong".

I think, in a situation like that, the corner man has to be giving technical instructions rather than trying to get his fighter motivated. Look at Danny Williams vs Vitali Klitschko. Some guy took over the corner from Jim McDonnell and started screaming, "DON'T QUIT ON ME DANNY!!!" "LET YOUR HANDS GO DANNY!!" Thats not really helping. The problems were technical problems.

Abraham was reluctant to let his hands go because Froch was punching very hard. Froch was also feinting. In addition, Froch was being elusive and moving away from Abraham well. Abraham knew that he was taking a risk by jumping in with hooks and didn't want to get countered hard.

Wegner needed to tell Abraham to start being first with the jab to the body and head and to stop looking for the KO punch instead of calling him a coward for not throwing punches.

i think AA is just what he is,
he is,and always was a one dimentional plodder with a good dig,he was pretty good at it,as his record shows, but he was not ,and never was going to be good enough to beat froch:deal

Abraham was so lacklustre at one point I wondered if he was throwing the fight.

Obviously it wasn't the case, but it did cross my mind.

Dirrel was throwing some pretty hurtful looking shots I thought, fast and hard, always keeping distance.

Carl, was incredible, stuck to the perfect game-plan.

Both deserve credit but as you may have noticed there's plenty of threads saying AA is total **** which i think takes away from the brilliance of both Carls AND Dirrels performance( tho admittedly the possible acting of Dirrel also detracts)

Don't want to take anything away from Froch but Abrahams level of oppo has clearly flatterd him.

if you look at his record, he never beat an elite level fighter. Perhaps Taylor but he was well past his best and coming of a KO loss.

Miranda gave him fits but we have seen since he is a B level fighter. Demers and Gevor looked tough coming in but have shown since there pretty ordinary.

Still a great win from Froch. The best performance from a British boxer since Calzaghe vs Lacy.

shocking that AA made it so far with learning to move his head or bend at the legs or waist shows the difference a weightclass makes

Bernard Hopkins would have schooled AA worse than he did to Pavlik.

He can't counter with that guard. Impossible.

I'm curious how Winky Wright used it so effectively and Arthur was so limited with it. IS it Winky's jab that made the difference?
