Who else found themselves welling up at the end of Katsidis' interview with Merchant and is man enough to say it? :deal

I just watched the fight, been avoiding the internet and pretty much anything til I could watch it... Don't know what else to say, hope Michael will overcome this loss (physically and mentally) to get what he deserves.

It wasn't like he got beaten and had no argument in the fight until the last two rounds of his effort. He abandoned his jab and is still showing seriously poor defence for the elite level.

He needs to aim for someone like Soto now.

Has anyone got footage of this by any chance? I stopped watching after the ref stepped in.

Yep, got to me too. I thought Merchant was a bit out of order for asking the question then not letting him finish.

The skill disparity was just to vast in the end. Practically every shot Michael threw was a hook, he could've done with some straighter shots and ones coming from underneath. Just not enough variety. You can't lead with so many hooks especially when you're a one handed fighter like Katsidis and the only good shot you've got is a left hook. You become very predictable, very fast when in against someone like Marquez. It's amazing how Juan Manuel is able to keep his technique and boxing together under relentless pressure and stalking. Even though he's pretty easy to hit he never loses his boxing even when he's brawling.

Steward called it absolutely right - he said Katsidis lacked a good straight right, so didn't have the dimensions to trouble Marquez.

It was an emotional interview, but I didn’t have a lump in my throat. I’m not a *****. You could tell how heart-broken Katsidis was, and that he really wanted to win it for his brother. Larry Merchant was welling up, though.

Ard as nails you are

Yeah Larry was when he asked the final question, but he shouldn't of cut Michael off...that's what really bothered me...asks him and then knowing that could be the reaction he stops him...stupid to ask him in first place.

I don't seem to remember that :huh. I would watch the interview again, but I'm worried it'll catch me out this time, and try to invoke a tear. Not happening :nono

When Michael was starting to cry and explain how hard it was for him and that he loves Stathi Larry closed the show sharpish.

IMO if you provoke a reaction then at least allow the man to show his pain.

Ya I didn't like that, he started him going and then moved on. Should have let him get it out. Maybe Larry felt bad when he'd started, but still he could have ended it better
