    Jimmy Ellis,

He had a horrible case of carbuncles 'boils' on his face.

Barney Ross is a classic case of tough childhood

His father was killed in a robbery when Barney was very young, and, as a result, his mother suffered a nervous breakdown and the family dissolved, whith Barney and his brothers scattered to the 4 winds.

Barney became a ghetto brawler and a small time criminal, working for Capone, the Genna Brothers, etc.

He was set to end getting life or the electric chair, but box crossed his path an saved him .... the rest is story

I wouldn't say his family was all that healthy and functional. His father was an abusive drunk and the cops would often come to the Clay household. One of his abusive incidents resulting in Cassius receiving a gash on his leg.

Add that when Tobe Liston's mule died, Sonny was used to work with the plow in the field. Sonny for sure had it hard from the beginning.

He's saying he probably received an unfairly large amount of wedgies and noogies and swirlies, I believe. I imagine there to be some kind of Dutch oven issues implied in that comment as well. ...You know what Freud said about the Dutch ovens, don't you?

Compared to most fighters, his life growing up was great.

You seriously passed the level of redundant into flat out general forum level ***gotry a while ago. You used to be a solid poster, which is the sole reason I even bother with this post.

Seriously, no substance. Three quarters of what you choose to post is regurgitated, stale.

If you don't contribute anything on a forum that considers itself the last bastion of intelligence on this site, then why the **** are you here? Its almost self depreciating.

I may seem apathetic about this post now. But later I'm going to commit slow suicide over it with vodka. 20-30 years from now, I'll be dead, and that'll be on your shoulders, Russ. That's how much your opinion means to me, deep down.

I'm glad it's going to be a slow burn, a real descent into the abyss for you. Relative to your crimes it's a light punishment.
