My main gripe about him is that he is too damn cautious which allows his opponents to win more rounds than they should.

But if we know anything about Floyd, its that he meets every challenge head on. Never has he backed down during a fight. And never has he mentally broken down to where he would be in survival mode until the end. When he is faced with a challenge he has always raised his game. If he really was all about caution then he wouldn't have been in Shane's face in Round 3. I expected him to start with more movement but instead he was asking for more. Who's to say the exact same thing won't happen if Manny started getting the better of him?:think

Does anyone else think we will see Floyd adopt MMA-Style tactics in a bid to keep Manny at bay .......... at least in the early going ?

And if so, do you think Pacquiao could cope with elbows and fore-arm smashes ?

I 100% feel that Floyd would use these tactics similar to those he used when Hatton tried to brawl and maul him ...

No, I don't. emmanuel is at the stage of his career where he's an old dog that can't learn new tricks. emmanuel has never been great on the inside or clinches. Floyd easily punked Marquez in the clinches with his elbows, forearms, hitting on the break, because Marquez didn't have clinch experience.

Pac does not have a good jab to counter Floyd. What with Floyd's reach and height advantage. But Pac has been fighting guys with longer reach and taller and bigger than he is for quite sometime now. He has the straight left to deal with the jab most of the time. As far as Floyd goes, disrupting his rhythm starts way before the signing of the contract. "All roads lead to. . ." , remember? Man up to his absurd demands and intimidate him, push him back. A sure sign of him losing the edge in the mind games portion of the fight is his "I'm on vacation, I don't have the "urge" crap he's tossing about. Pac is an easy fight for him, or was it the easiest? Right now Pac is making money fighting, while Floyd is losing money on "vacation". I hope his "urge" to fight comes sooner than later, otherwise he will belatedly get the "urge" when he's broke. He might find himself running out of time (age) and negotiating leverage (broke).

U beat me to it, Pac fights one way. Plan A don't work then what??? Mayweather D will confuse and frustrate Pac to open up more, which that will allow Mayweather to counter more. I think Mayweather's game plan will also be to attack Pac's body. Notice Mayweather always talks about Pac getting Ko'ed by body shots. When was the last time a fighter attacked Pac's body.....Margarito, and he had some success with it, but was to slow to continue it.

I think Floyd tried to fight Jesus Chavez at his own game, found it too tough, and so backed off and changed his tactics. What was your assessment of that fight?

He found the action a bit too hot to handle and could not decided whether to fight inside or outside, but look what happened when he stepped back inside in the latter part of the fight? That is why I think Mayweather will win, he can do more things than Manny not to have to restrict himself to one way of fighting, only thing I dont think he can do, is hang around on the ropes, but I suspect he knows that.

Manny can only fight one way, if that dont work, what happens then? The guy was still getting picked off by Marquez in 07 or 08, he got outboxed by Cotto in spells, was beaten by Morales years ago, and Morales was never a particularly refined fighter, although Manny might of improved a bit since then, although I dont see much of it defensively when on the front foot.

I've been saying this for the longest...If you had a solid jab to Keep Floyd honest then you'll have a damn good chance at pulling off a victory...DLH had the key until he got neglected it. (didnt want to get countered anymore :-( )

IMO A prime Forrest would give Mayweather fits with his long, rangy jab and his ability to get off and jab his way out of danger.

Winky with his southpaw jab and his ability to limit Floyd's offense would be another factor as to why I think Winky would outpoint Floyd.

IMO, Manny doesnt have the jab, nor does he have the countering ability to break Floyd's rythem...He would have to rough Floyd up (in which I dont see that happening) for him to get on the inside for him to have success.

To add to this post...Lets not forget how Manny lunges in with some of his punches...How he lunged in on Margorito is going to get his ears boxed off if he were to do that with a fighter like Floyd.

I think Manny struggles a lot whenever somebody doesn't make them self a still target. Watch round 3 of the Morales fight, rounds 8 and 10 of the Cotto fight, and watch rounds 6 and 7 of the Jorge Solis fight. This is probably why all the african american accusations have been thrown at Manny by some people because a lost of them use plenty of footwork and head movement which bothers Manny a lot.
