Munroe: Boxer of the year

Well deserved ....

 

Not Froch? That's a disgrace.

 

Unfortunately the award was decided before Froch fought Arthur Abraham. A bit silly having it so early but that's just the way it was. They could hardly give it to Froch for a close defeat to Kessler in the hope that he'd put on a masterclass.

I reckon Munroe deserves it just as much as anyone else anyway to be honest. He went all the way to Japan to fight possibly the best at his weight. Plus had plenty of good wins over here against Martinez, Maludrottu and Terrazes. Well done Rendall I say.

 

The Abraham domination gives Froch a good start to win next year's poll. If he beats Johnson and even puts on a decent display against Ward he should win it no doubt.

 

How is this decided? By public vote?

Munroe lost his world title challange so I don't see why he becomes boxer of the year?

 

personally i would have given it to khan but i do think munroe he is a worthy winner. unfortunate the way these things are timed that froch wasn't in a position to challenge for it.

i can't believe haye has been shortlisted for bbc sports personality of the year- beating ruiz and harrison hardly qualifies

 

what about ricky burns?surely he deserves a mention

 

Its a bit like the Oscars. If you have been in the running a few times, you eventually get it.

 

I love Rendall but I'd have to agree with Ricky Burns being ahead assuming we take Froch out

 

Clevery and Chisora moved up a level too this year.
Who says nice guys don't win though?

This is a typical British 'support the loser' attitude. Props to Rendall, he went to Japan and came up short, gave a great effort and he might get another chance. But what about Froch, Cleverly, Burns? Why give it to the loser?

 

Cleverly for me. Don't think some people realise how good Murat was, still is. Murat will come through another route and claim a title at light-heavy i think and only then will Cleverly's win over him look as good as it is.
