Several times??? He was floored like 2 times in 49 careers. And those 2 KD combined didn't last longer then 5 secs. ...And the guys who knock him down were as big or bigger then him. .....And one could agree that Archie Moore was in his prime, based on the way he fought before his match with Rocky.
Proof is in the pudding. What other heavyweight has acomplished what he did?=no one YET BEFORE OR NOW
Imagine if Joe didn't fight his whole post 66 career blind in one eye ... people who mock his chin are clueless .. try getting hit without seeing a punch come at you ...
i don't understand this chin problem either.on his way to and fighting ali he was a fighting machine.a true warrior
His chin was good. . Frazier '68 - '71 is underrated. And his record stacks up very well against Marciano's. Marciano was really great though, IMO. Just Frazier was better.
If Rocky's record was 49-1, would he still be praised so much? I think his record is the reason he's ranked so highly these days. It's funny that many of the people who watched him fight in person ranked Jack Dempsey higher.
Marciano would still be rank high in my book for cleaning out a era imo. This is not a Jack Sharkey or Moore we are talking about here, that won the title and lost it in his next defense. Even if Marciano lost a fight, he would still be the MAN of the 1950's as Dempsey was in the 20's, as Louis was in the 30's and 40's, Tyson in the 80's and Ali was in the 60's and 70's. Marciano would still be praised even with a lost. For pretty much cleaning out the 50's. Not many people did that outside of Ali, Louis, Lewis, and perhaps Tyson.
