I'd say James makes you pay more with his counter shots, though he may get clipped and grazed with shots while doing so. Floyd rarely gets touched when countering, but his punches generally aren't the heaviest.

Both of them are excellent at it, its really tough to say who is better at it, but i will say this, Toney has always looked like a natural in boxing in general always looks comfortable, Floyd looks more calculating.

I would say Floyd just off percision. Toney threw more combinations when he countered, and Floyd likes the quick one or two shots. It also depends on who they were fighting.

I will say floyd, mainly bc he could counter your mistakes and counter his oppenents as soon as they are off balanced and off guard. One of the few boxers that punishes you for taking a step towards him.

    Toney.

Floyd relies more on quick twitch fibres and footwork, James is obese and he's still able to pull it off against anyone. He frees himself up more and can follow up aswell. It's all timing and anticipation and very little athleticism.

Not much in it though, they both come from the same school.

I give it to Toney. He makes more with less athleticism.
