You're talking about a guy who fought future HOFers in three of the original eight weight classes and took them all the distance. He's taken a great deal of big, flush punches without going down. He's had seventeen fights with world champions. He went twenty-four rounds with the greatest offensive fighter of his generation. It simply does not matter how much "heart" you have if you physically cannot take a punch very well, you will get knocked out at that high a level. This isn't rocket science. You're embarrassing yourself.

Marquez has proven his HEART by being able to get up from punches, and for ****s sake all this 'quality' chin bollocks is ridiculous, Marquez was dropped thrice in one round, or are we going to make an excuse for that aswell? and you said I was embarrassing myself :patsch

Maidanas chin is similar to JMM. He gets KD but gets up well under control. I think maybe it just his legs like JMM. I honestly have never seen JMM incredibly hurt. He goes down then gets up almost as steady as normal. I think its their legs.

I won't be able to watch this fight because I will be at work and I am glad! I wouldn't have any finger nails left, It will be a hard fight to watch for 12 rounds. But I think Khan beats him to the punch, controls the distance with the jab and quick 2-3 punch combos and then uses his feet to get away and escape. I think Khan deserves a lot of respect for taking this fight. But in my opinion, big puncher or not, Maidana is going to get showed up and lose a lopsided contest against a much more talented fighter.

SCS (Shaky Chin Syndrome) they're never seriously hurt but they go down way too much.

Why is everyone only talking about the Ortiz fight? Maidana has been down more then 5 times in his career by opponents who don't even hit that hard, I remember one of his knockdowns by a guy who was quite slow but managed to time the shot. Khan with his speed, accuracy and timing will drop Maidana with ease

I think Khan is gonna TKO him. So ima put some money on that.

Khan does not have any power @ 140. None. He throws flurries then runs to protect that Glass Jaw of his.

Muhammad Ali is known to have one of the greatest chins in the history of the sport. He was knocked down against Sonny Banks. He was later knocked down by 27-8-1 Henry Cooper, whom he outweighed by 20+ pounds. That was the fight before his title shot, mind you. Then Joe Frazier knocked him down. ...Then Chuck mother****ing Wepner scored a KD on him. So, bright eyes, do those four knockdowns in one weight class, three against non-world-beating-fighters (to say the least) give Ali a chin which is not quality? Knocked down=****all. Knocked down by great fighters=****all times shit**** divided by pi.

I've seen a shitload of fantastically determined glass-jawed fighters with all the heart in the world, and it did not keep them on their feet. I'm sorry if this isn't getting through to you. I have rarely had a successful conversation with a brick wall. You try telling someone who's unable to even comprehend what the referee is asking them, an hour afterward, that if they just had more heart, they would have made it through. If you cannot take a punch, it will not matter how much you want to. If Marquez didn't have a high quality chin, he would've been stopped several times by now unless we also give him Willie Pep's defense.

Do you not understand that fighters with shaky chins aren't physically capable of getting up from punches like Marquez took, regardless of heart?

    :deal

End thread. Unless the TS has some sort of magical counter argument that can contradict this, he should leave it at this.

Sorry you've failed to point out to me where Ali got knocked down 3 in a single round :think also trying to bring Ali's punch resistance in to the discussion in an effort to try and defend JMM shakey chin is laughable, I don't recall JMM taking flush shots from a puncher of a Shavers or Foreman standard and not dropping flat on his ass.

The main difference is to you someone with a questionable or bad chin is someone who gets KO'd while to be it's someone who can't stay on his feet after a stiff punch.
