This content is protected Amir Khan's boxing dream was to feature in a World title fight in Las Vegas. Next Saturday - in the wee small hours of Sunday morning British-time - that ambition will be fulfilled, but now the Olympic idol has his sights set even higher. Khan defends his WBA light-welterweight title against ferocious Argentine Marco Maidana and then he wants a multi-million pound showdown with the reclusive Floyd Mayweather Sr. Khan insisted: "I'm confident Floyd will fight me and I know that I will be ready. "I'm in boxing to fight the very best out there and that means Floyd right now for me. "Ricky (Hatton) went to Vegas and met the best to try and prove that he was the best and I will continue where Ricky failed - it's why we fight. "Manny (Pacquiao) knows that Floyd will never fight him and it could be me that gets in the ring with Floyd - that is a real fight." Advertisement - article continues below » In September, Khan went to the Philippines to spar and train with Pacquiao. He is convinced the experience has made him a better fighter. Khan, still only 23, added: "I don't think that Manny will ever fight me and I know that I'm not quite ready for Floyd, but I will be very soon. I had not sparred with Manny for two years and I was amazed at how much I had improved and so was he! "Manny is still a great fighter, the best in the world, but it is getting harder and harder for him in the gym." The dream of fighting in Las Vegas and all future plans could so easily be ruined if Khan adds his name to the list of 27 fighters that Maidana has knocked out in his 29 wins. The tough, rugged and lethal-punching Argentine hero is confident he see off Khan with ease. Maidana said: "Khan has a bad chin and I've an iron fist - this fight will not last long." Khan said: "I've heard people tell me Maidana has knocked out bums, but that is rubbish; he still has to hit his opponents on the chin. This is a dangerous fight and that's what I want Do people think he can actually do it? G
Mayweather shouldn't be in his mind..****! He has maidana and the other dudes in that division to get through.
Concentrate on the test at hand young Khan. To be fair I think he is often forced into making these comments by speculating journos. I dont think they are underestimating Maidana. Roach aint so silly to let that happen.
nowt wrong with ambition Don't think he's in Mayweather's class right now, but he'd probably do a better job than Hatton did
In every interview I've seen where Khan has mentioned Mayweather, Alexander or Bradley he has always said that he is focusing on Maidana first. I'm sure he said the same in this one outside of the small snippets in the article.
Mayweather will take this fight I think and will win it .Hatton moved up from 140 JMM and now Khan plus it will make an easy payday for Mayweather .I think he needs all advantages and tool to beat Mayweather that he hasn't got that including a granite chin .If Mayweather knocks Khan down he'll finish him easy .Gomez Limond etc .
What does he mean he hadn't sparred with Pacquiao in 2 years...I thought they trained at the same gym?!? PS lol @ him calling out Floyd. He needs to learn to stop being such a loudmouth
Right now he has no chance against Mayweather, maybe in a few years when Khan has improved and Mayweather is the wrong side of 35 he might have more chance then...though still wouldn't bet on Khan to win then.
