With the fullest of respect mate kevin maree done a excellent job getting mike in the condition he was in, i for one never thought he could look as good on the scales after the stories you here regarding his partying lifestyle,also kevin put mike in 1st class living accomodation and he wanted for nothing.Ultimately its mikes choice if he fights or not and obviously the temptation was to much,so you can't proportion any blame on Kevin Maree he done his job as a coach excellently imo its just mike wasn't good enough at that stage of his career.all the best to M.Gomez

kevs a good lad,known him for years,we boxed for the same club. he wouldent of put gomez in their unless he was 100% confident in him,which he was,if you read his post.
as for your last qoute,****ing well out of order atsch,gomez has been in some real hard wars for years,not jjust that one fight.

If you're as close to Michael as you say you are, I have no resaon to doubt you, why not take this up with Kev away from the public eye?

One thing xoborp- and we've spoke many times before - u should have taken this up with mike at the time- also how many others stop youssef al hamidi etc his form going into the fight wasnt bad at all

If this is how you feel about Kevin getting Gomez into the best shape he had been in for some time, then I shudder to think what your opinions are of those that put on the unlicensed boxing that headlines Mike.

Kevin put his heart and soul into getting Gomez right for that Burns fight, the right training, nutrition, correct surroundings, personal attention - I doubt there is more a man could have done to be honest. Everyone knew going into the Burns fight that that wasn't the best Michael Gomez ever, he was passed his peak for sure, but he was in great condition and with Mike's aggressiveness he still had a chance, if people wanted Mike to stop boxing when he was "passed it" then we would never of seen him smash Alex Arthur.

Also who knows what the focus that that fight gave him or what it saved him from if he had not been in training?

p.s. he does sound like Arnie alright, if not his ould fella then surely some sort of relation!

Mr Maree got him in best shape poss by all accounts but he's not a psychiatrist
Unfortunatly Gomez problems -if he has any- accumulated over many fights and personal issues.
