The irony. Calzaghe and Hatton at one point or another owned the 140 and 168 divisions.

Now Froch and Khan are aiming to do the same over the next 12 months or so.
You could argue that Froch and Khan are in much tougher era's in their respective divisions, but you could also make a case for Calzaghe and Hatton being far more talented than Froch/Khan.

If Froch defeats Ward then Bute,
And Khan defeats Maidana then Bradley/Alexander, does that make them greater than Calzaghe/Hatton?

    Interesting. Good thread.

The only thing I disagree with is Hatton being more talented than Khan. I think Khan is a tremendous talent. I don't think that about Hatton. He had some talent, but he did his thing on a lot of guts, alot of spirit, and alot of holding.

I think with those wins, they would be at same level.

If Khan beats Maidana , bradly vs Alexender winner and then move up and beats like of berto, then I would say he surpasses Hatton.

well said I was thinking the same...Khan would school Hatton prime for prime...Hatton had no defense...Khan is too fast and precise...Calzaghe on the other hand, would embarrass Froch prime for prime...even though he fought a lot of tomato cans, Calzaghe was an amazing fighter...top 40-50 all time if you ask me

Froch has been beaten by M.Kessler and Calzaghe took him apart in an amazing fight, when both men were champions, in a unification fight.

Froch would have to go a long way to equal Calzaghe and I don't think he ever will.

Hatton/Khan points are good. Both are talented and play to their strengths well. Khan has a greater skill set and can adapt. However Hatton's record is pretty impressive....only losing to the P4P king at the time. Pacman & Money

Plus Hatton at his best had a better chin than Khan, Calzaghe probablly a better "boxer" than Froch, but, i think Froch and Khan have it considerably tougher than Ricky or Joe, think of who they've fought/ will fight in the next 18 months, in comparison to Hattons first 25 or so fights and Calzaghes first 30 fights..... Compared to how many fights Khan and Froch now, their resumes are looking better already respectively to their counterparts...

great replies. i agree that Khan is more talented than Hatton. He was very limited as a fighter. but he did have a good record and some good wins. Also, he achieved more in the US than any of the others did, in terms of popularity. Froch could possibly end up having better wins than calzaghe, yet is far less talented!

So in a way calzaghe/khan are way more talented, yet hatton/froch possibly have better resumes. interesting :think

Agreed. Khan is still young and could surpass Hatton's achievements, and although I would expect him to be able to keep Hatton at bay with his long range and quick hands, I think a prime Hatton could make it a very long night for Khan.

And should Froch go on to beat a Ward and Bute his resume would eclipse Calzaghe's( I would favor both to beat him right now, but the guy has made his name beating people most thought he would lose to). H2H, I would expect Calzaghe to pepper Froch all night and take a wide UD.

froch beats johnson easy with the same sort of tactic he used against A.A, then loses 2 ward by a huge U.D decsion, rematch with kessler, lose, then my retire or become a robin ried type fighter (stepping stone), for james degale, but will be remebered as one tough S.O.B, Khan the skys the limit!

Calz was better than Froch, and Hatton was better than Con.

Thats all there is to it.
