Which would have been the better result last night? The actual result or if Maidana had stayed down in the 1st? Although he ended up taking punishment, on the verge of being stopped in the 10th, a potential broken nose, a trip to the hospital and shipping 122 punches from the hardest puncher at 140, I can't help feeling that this will be brilliant for his career and stand in much better stead than if he'd finished it in the first.
The actual result by far. This has silenced a lot of doubters. He also now knows for sure mentally that he has fights like that in him, baptism under fire. The only down side is taking punishment like that can shorten careers.
UD. And not because he silenced the doubters or any nonsense, if his chin has seemingnly improved he would have shown that at a later stage anyway. But the type of tough fight he came through. Hopefully he doesn't have many more like that but he'll know its in the tank now if needed.
The UD by far. He not only badly hurt maidana in the 1st, he also took his bombs in the 10th. Great fight, wouldn't change it for anything.
I was a bit worried about how proud he seemed that he was tagged numerous times in the post fight interview, but thinking about it, whatever Khan has said in the past he must have had his own massive doubts about taking punishment in fights. It should give him massive confidence, but I wouldn't like to see many more fights like that! More defence next time Amir!
The actual result has developed him as a fighter and has silenced the chin checkers, both in terms of experience and current as well as future critical appreciation. This fight has elevated Khan to a new level, based on the UD. The KO1 would have allowed the critics and chin checkers to carry on spouting their nonsense...that is now not possible. He just won a UD over a monsterous puncher, the hardest puncher in the division and took the best he had to offer.
Khan will have learnt more from this fight than any other. Invaluable experience for him. He will have grown significantly in boxing maturity from this fight. Well done Khan, really. After all the **** he gets here/elsewhere. Just brilliant.
This fight for Amir was almost equivalent to that of Pacquaio's first fight against Marquez. It was pure brutal and he found a guy who would NOT quit infront of him, and who wasnt going to let Khan off if his life depended on it, and Khan got through that and won a close close fight. This is by far gonna be one to look back at for his fans in the next few years and something he will learn from.
The UD. He has silenced alot of critics by taking all those shots and not going down. And the fact that he proved when the shits hits the fan he can come through it.
Definatley UD, he showed how he can take punches, which to be fair i thought he couldnt. so i got proven wrong! G
