Yeah good point. Maidana may have expected it to be somewhat of a Ortiz repeat. He would get up and stop him in a round or 2...it definitely seemed that way because he seemed to run out of gas in the middle rounds, until he hurt Khan anyway.
The commentary on the sky version couldn't have been better timed: Jim Watt - "Khan is able to see Maidana's punches and avoid them, it's just the wild swings he's got to watch for" - at the moment he finishes the sentence Maidana lands a looping right hand that cracks Khan on the jaw and sends him to la la land
I'm glad Khan pulled through but Cortez definatly saved him in that round. I reckon Maidana would have finished him if Cortez didn't keep intervening (and for no apparant reason, he wasn't holding). All in all i'm glad he did as I wanted Khan to win.
Cortez saving khan 3 times, one time khan, turned his body but could not move away, what happened, cortez broke it up, maybe a standing "8" count should of been given there, but no way should of the action been stopped by cortez at this point, not saying this would of been a knock out, but this was spot were khan was very "open" for big shots, he was not even looking at marcos at the time.....
Well, not exactly. In the 10th, Khan was severely wobbled. His legs were shaking like jello. At another point, Khan only stayed up by holding. Not an impressive win for Khan. I'd avoid the rematch if I were Amir.
