Iv purchased Teddy Atlas book and in it he claims he was a gang member, thief, street fighter and that the scar he got was from a street fight he also says he was a promising boxer is any of this true considering his dad was a doctor? or is he like Floyd Mayweather with his fake gangsta persona?

It was actually one of those big inflatable monsters at a car dealership, but this is technically correct.

    Little of both.

  5. Atlas was a hellraiser as a youth, a problem child with a rapsheet until a trip to Rikers Island straightened him out, he was a good Amatuer boxer but gave up fighting in 76-77 to train fighter's and trained Tyson as a youth in 82-83, yes his dad now dead was a Doctor..
And yes that hideous was from a knifefight, which from what i have read took about 200-300 stitches to close, his eye drops a little from the nerve damage, dude has been thru a lot and is a tough hard man..

I read the book a couple months back, its not a bad read though I wish he would of talked more about Tyson and Briggs, instead of Moorer. I think most of the stuff he said was true to a point, but a couple of the fights he had with people seemed a little exaggerated IMO.

Either way his commentary is the most annoying on American TV, I don't mean he doesn't know his subject matter, just that his analagize are awful and he is very repetitive.

Yeah is is quite repetitive but when I first got into boxing I probably learned more about the technical aspect of the sport from him than any other comentator.

Going off memory here, but I think it goes something like this:

In an interview with Atlas, he describes that Tyson tried some funny stuff with Atlas' sister. Atlas pulled t a gun and put to Tysons head and said he would pull the trigger if this ever happened again. I don't thinked I'd want to cross Atlas:yikes

he had a buckled back i hear?this is the reaosn why he didnt continue boxing and became a coach.

he is likes to say his thoughts very openly and thats why he is forever remembered as the coach of moorer and his gun to tyson temple story.

really complicated guy awful commintator but gets a decent amount of respect

  12. Yes that's correct i do believe it was Teddy's niece not sister that Tyson was trying to have sex with? and when she refused Tyson got rough, Tyson avoided Atlas like the plague after that episode:smoke

He's not the best commentator but he hates to see a robbery, I remember when Courtney Burton fought Emanuel Augustus the first time, Augustus outclassed Burton all night long, when the verdict was read out Teddy went and shouted at the judges. It was beautiful to watch.
