Is Khan the number 1 at 140lbs?

Its Bradley at the moment, hes a better rounded fighter.

khan did well on saturday but lets not get carried away. he was nearly taken out and without the kd in 1st and the point deduction he could have lost.



All this is pretty pointless imo. whatever weight class it is, you cannot be considered the top of that class until you have beaten either the #2 or #3. Its why bute or ward isnt #1 at 168 for example - they have looked top notch, just not against top comp

Agreed. For someone supposed to be a top-notch 'pure' boxer I think his ability was shown up. His jab really isn't that much of a winner IMO, of course, the Khan fans will say he deliberately made it less of a weapon to allow Maidana more scoring opportunities.

 

Vitali was above Chagaev when they gave it to Wlad. Supposedly the number 1 and 3 can fight for it if there isn't a massive difference between 2 and 3. In that case there was a massive difference but they still let Wlad fight for it.

Khan vs Bradley for the Ring Title will be epic, 140 has gone the right way about determining the no.1 without needing a tournament format. As long as Bradley-Alexander winner (Bradley IMO, Devon is massively overrated, and I said that before the Kotelnik fight, he's sloppy as ****) faces Amir that is.

 

I'm sure I read that Bradley-Alexander will be for the ring title. There was an interview on the Rings website (might have been ESPN) where they went through all the vacant Ring titles and said which fights could be made for that. Apparently Gonzalez-Joyi would not be worthy enough for the 105 belt when they were both fighting in that division!

Bit of a pointless task debating who is No.1 at the moment as it should be cleared up without doubt after the Bradley-Alexander fight.

Dan Rafael still has Alexander above Khan after this weekends fight :-(

 

I'm sure he was, but I'd need to go back and look. He's no.9 now with The Ring, and he was definitely rated with one of the belt orgs.

**Edit** Nope, you're dead-right Rob. The Ring didn't rank him, which means his current ranking is utterly bizarre. But it's a better win than over the corpse of Malignaggi - who wasn't much good anyway.

 

I thought Peterson was Bradley's mandatory for the WBO belt, although I could be wrong on that.

I wouldn't really argue with Khan being given No.1 spot.
