Leonard was already fading when he fought Hagler, even though he won. Bad analogy.

Khan isn't even close to Leonard. Leonard was faster, better, better defense, and MORE POWER.

Thank you, Xplosive for showing your prejudice in full display here, especially considering I quoted SRL himself speaking highly of Khan.

It just strengthens my point that the only ones who can't see even small similarities are mindless baboons. :happy

@ Mankind, styles don't change just because someone is fading, styles remain the same, but I agree that it wasn't a prime example of an SRL fight. The reason I used it as an example was because if the parallels between Leonard/Hagler and Khan/Maidana.

My point with this thread was very clear from the beginning: I wish Khan would be more like SRL, and I know he can be if he works on his weak points. I never said he would equal or surpass SRL, that was never in the discussion.

Had that even been a possibility, half of the losers in this thread be in hospitals right now. You're lucky as f*** I decided when I created this thread that I'd stay civil.

And this is yet another example of why some people hate Khan-- the non-stop hyperbole from you **** Limeys.

Khan isn't even remotely close to Surgar Ray Leonard. Leonard, unlike Khan, was difficult to hit. Leonard also hit harder and a had a better beard.

In fact, the only similarities I see between the two is that each wore/wear trunks in the ring.

But he is far behind Sugar Ray Robinson and not even close to #2 Floyd Mayweather Jr and #1 Manny PAC

If you hate Khan because someone on a boxing forum who doesn't even KNOW him wrote something about him, then you are just another example of how misplaced the hate for Amir Khan really is. :patsch

The kid is not even close to SRl, but he is a solid boxer that could and should improve in the next few years, he has to learn how to hide his chin (he doesn't take a good punch) so can go through fights without the scares, just because he stayed upright in his last fight it didn't meant he was not hurt and badly, he looks to me like a less polished Terry Norris, he needs the footwork and he got the hands speed and pop.

Khan getting hurt against Maidana wasn't a result of him making tactical/gameplan errors. He just got caught with overhand right as he was backing up or moving laterally. It wasn't a case where Khan got reckless and over aggressive and got hit. He was boxing and moving when it happened.

He got hit with the same shot, Maidana's overhand right over Khan's jab, in round 7. Only this time in round 10, it landed much harder and cleaner.

Maybe not SRL... however, when watching the Maidana fight the other day, in looking at Khan, the way he moves, his speed, the way he throws etc I just thought 'this looks like watching some of those old school fights in black & white' - he does have a very old school feel about the way he fights.
