should Americans be able to get Martinez and Khan because they fight here? I ask this question because people seem to forget that Pascal is from Haiti and Bute from Romania.

Pascal's family came in Québec when he was 4. Bute learned French and he has Candian citizenship, unlike Matinez or Khan.

:huh OK. Simple question: do they have American citizenship? If not, they're not legally American.

    End of the thread.

What about Bute's citizenship? What about the fact that he did all his pro career here, with a Quebec coach and a Quebec promoter? I consider Bute as a Québécois but I can see why Romanian people consider him as Romanian.

What about Pascal? He lived here almost all his life, learned boxing here, represented Canada in the Olympics. Coached and promoted by Quebec people. What is Haitian in him?

    What's your point again?

No - Bute and Pascal started their careers in earnest in Canada. We get guys like Glen Johnson (born in Jamaica) and Sam Peter (born in Nigeria).

I guess it depends on what the fighters consider themselves, Bute says he's a romanian-québécois and Pascal says he's a québécois, has Amir Khan ever said he's an american?
