    Sort of the original 3.

I get the impression that people are going to favor belts that happen to be around their favorite fighter's waist.

But WBC, IBF and WBA were the major belts since the 80s.

In fact the WBO was a fringe belt as even back in as 2000.

WBO and Ring magazine perhaps WBC should merge and have one Organisation. The WBA and IBF titles mean very little in the UK.

:huh Really? Then how come the IBF stripped Devon Alexander the title when he decided to fight the WBO titleholder Timothy Bradley? Or stripped Joshua Clottey as well as forced Antonio Margarito to vacate the IBF title when they decided to fight WBA/WBO titleholder Miguel Cotto?

Even though our two biggest/only boxing stars Amir Khan and David Haye both have a WBA belt?

The WBO had Freeman Barr once the number 1 rank challenger to Joe Calzaghe. Freeman Barr was sooooo woefully inept that even Joe refused to face him. The WBO never enforced the mandatory.
The WBO are also the only organisation to have had a dead man in their rankings.
The belt was introduced in 1989 i believe. Franciso Daminani was their inagural champ at heavy. Im sure you can guess who was the heavyweight champion of the world at that time..... The WBO are less than worthless.

And no the WBA and IBF do mean something in the UK. Frank Warren because of his close affiliation through the early 2000's with the WBU and the WBO during the 90's as well is the reason why that belt isnt hotly contested on these shores. Also thanks in part that Don King historically has always controlled the IBF and WBA and was indicted for this by the FBI.

The WBA started this in the early 2000's. This allowed them charge 2 sanctioning fee's instead of one. There was time once at 168 when Ottke was the unified WBA/IBF champ. Mundine won the now vacated WBA as Ottke was the Super Champion. If Calzaghe had unified the WBO with Mundine what would that have made Ottke? The Super Duper champ?

The IBF were investigated by the IBF for corruption/fight fixing/rankings manipulation etc along with DKP.

    Super Champ
    Unified Champ
    Regular Champ

The Wba have that at the moment. What if sonebody again unifies with the regular champ? Add in an interim, thats 5.

The only belt that matters is the Ring belt.
