According to the book "Hands of Stone", the stomach cramp story was just an excuse made up by a member of his corner. I never believed the "he had to take a dump" story. I'm more inclined to believe that Duran was mentally out of it, frustrated, and just sort of snapped and quit. He wasn't in the best of shape, even Leonard will admit that.
Yeah I'm thinking of that as well. But being an elite fighter like him, you wouldn't expect him to just quit like that.
