One good thing about Jeffries, is that he gives himself the best chance to do well by getting an experienced top coach.

Bellew is not thinking about boxing like an elite fighter should. Making statements like, "I never thought I'd have to do 12" "nobody can take my power" "Boxing is about 2 people hitting each other in the head as hard as they can" etc. is really ridiculous. Freddie Roach for example would tell Bellew to cop on and to focus on his skills, not his power. Arnie seems to be more of a mate and he's not very experienced either. Bellew needs to develop his boxing skills more and Arnie isn't helping by pandering to Bellews "I'm such a big puncher and I'll KO everyone" mentality. There will be fighters who can take the punches and come back.

 

If you are really Tony B then respect, but Orville clearly made you look like a mug. He outboxed you and put you on your back twice. Then you caught a lucky punch and the ref stopped it before giving big orv a chance to reassert himself.

we all know who the better fighter was, and he wasn't wearing blue shorts. I bet you're too scared to take orv on in a rematch, and i bet you're still having nightmares about his orangutan arms clubbing around your face.

this is exactly like Rocky v Apollo Creed I, the fans know who the real winner was.

 

Whilst Bellew didn't look a million dollars against Ajisafe, and had the scare against McKenzie, these fights will prove far more beneficial to him than his previous fights combined.
They're only "bad" if they're forgotten about and swept under the carpet by his team. Far better to have any issues that may need resolving to come up now rather than further down the line. However, Arnie is an intelligent young man, and like any good trainer worth a damn, will be using those two fights to highlight what work needs doing and where particular focus needs to be at this stage. It is then up to Tony to take on board everything he's gained from those experiences and utilize it for his further development as a boxer.


Ultimately though, in two fights where he's struggled or had to overcome difficulties and frustration, he has found a way to win, so regardless of perceived talents or abilities, there is credit due there.

Regardless of however far Tony's capable of going, he's certainly adding a lot of colour and excitement to the light heavyweight division at the moment. I think Cleverly is a bit too far at this point in time, but a fight with McIntosh I think would be perfect for him now in terms of testing where he's at.

Good post. I think Bellew has the talent to do well but he needs to change trainers, like Jeffries has.

 

I really enjoy watching Bellew fight and never miss him when he is on. Not had the pleasure of watching him live yet but hopefullly i will get the chance next year. I also think having a bit of arrogance is a great thing and makes people watch you. Had a few quid on Tony winning inside the distance and Khan on points Saturady so no problems with me Tony boy.

Ovill barely threw a punch in anger after the second round. Ovill was behind in the fight, he was 4 points up and then let the lead slip round by round. He was getting pushed back by Bellew's jab. Bellew was struggling to land meaningful punches but he was trying, Ovill wasn't doing anything.

 

Nice to see you have such confidence in me!! However I feel coma is a bit strong a word mate :verysad at the end of the day I'm a father first and a fighter second so talk like that is a bit too far but then again I'm writing to a screen... :nono

 

yes I am sorry, i don't mean to offend, maybe a better way of putting it is that your fans should not overestimate you abilities by talking about Cleverly, who is of course a frightening puncher, tbf you yourself haven't mentioned cleverly, it was the others.
