jesus christ, can,t throw a jab or a one two. them amateur idiots fixed him some bouts as for god sake he couldent have done it on merit, for god sake lets be strait he,s the worse olympian ive ever seen, he can punch, but so can most of the fellows in my local pub, no personable harm meant, as he's brave, and seems a nice lad, but to go to a top u.s trainer, then perform like that, against a opponemt of that quality is laughable.:-huh
You could tell Brooks wasn't happy in the interview. He basically said that Jeffries did nothing that he should have done.
Yeah i noticed that, watch Jefferies facial expression when Brooks tells his side of it....looked like he didn't like it. He seems struggle with any form of criticism.
In fairness, nobody likes criticism. Constuctive criticism is helpful but it can still hurt. I wish Jeffries all the best and who knows, we might see him become a better fighter. He is young and has a top trainer to guide him day in day out. He really needs to learn to be mentally stronger and thrive on constructive criticism though. You could tell Brook knows how **** he is though. He said something like, "hes been doing bad things for the past 15 years". I wouldn't be surprised to see Jeffries improve but I agree with you when you say he is fragile and maybe that is something that can't be helped. The cut was bad so I doubt we will see him out for at least another 3 months vs another Tolan.
i do wonder how he actually got to the olympics never mind win a bronze when i look at him box now who did he have to beat to win the bronze lads??
I think that "jaffa" has probably learnt a pro trick or two in America, not the best opponent to try them out on though. I reckon that that's what tony thought he was going to do before the bout. He does not seem to be a natural pro, there was alot of forced work in there . He tried to run before he could walk after the olympics and came up short under the pressure of the home support. He needs to relax a little more and rebuild confidence in himself, which i believe he will. Although sadly i don't think he will be successful at world level,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,British and perhaps european at best. oh and that cuts going to take a few months to heal...
i think basically forget whats happened in his first 8 fights as he made zero progress in them after turning pro, and lets see how he progresses over the next 6 months to a year under Brooks. although the signs aren't good, its probably a little early to write him off.
Still believe he has the tools to operate at a decent level, hope it falls in place for him, it was a decent KO, lifted the guys chin up with the jab before forcing his right hand home.
He spent some time sparring with Froch last year, other than that I really don't know what kind of sparring he's been getting. He seems to be fairly heavy handed, but he's just to technically limited, looks tentative in the ring and his jab is woeful. If he's still looking this awful in 10-12 months time it'll be fair to write him off. If there's not some clear improvements by then under Brooks then there'll just be no hope for him. I'd actually be worried for his health if they stuck him in with Bellew. That would be brutal
He doesn't get into his feet into position when he jabs imo, he also overshoots it, as he tries to step in with it too much, so when he misses, he is open to paying for overshooting the jab, which seems to be why all the clinching happens. I think one of the reasons he may appear tentative, is that if you knew you were potentially leaving yourself open everytime you jabbed, would u be confident in putting it out there, or show a degree of trepidation? Jeffries has a hole heap of technical flaws that range from his balance, to the way he holds his hands, to his own judgment of where and when to shoot his punches. I dont want to be too harsh, but being honest, I agree with a previous poster, I think would be lucky to get a British title at this rate, and I cant see Brooks correcting his balance issues to be honest, as he would have to completely rebuild the fighter.
Jeffries is all over the ****ing place technically. The list is endless. Problem is Brooks hasn't quite got a blank canvas to work with as Jeffries seems scarred mentally and does not receive criticism well and is fairly entrenched in these bad habits. To change you have to acknowledge criticism and use it as a positive. Changing trainer was a good sign but you have to do it in the gym and then show it in the fight and there wasn't too much progression by the sounds of it. I think he is capable of delivering a British title at some point. If Bellew moves onwards. Ajisafe would probably beat him at the moment but with a bit of work in the future its not a stretch to see him winning a British title. At the moment he's nothing but a fighter with a bit of a dig but thats a head start on the average fighter at this level, and with a good trainer he's got a head start.
