Simpson V Lindsay re-match

    Hi Guys,

    Seen on the stv(scottish) news last night that the re-match between Simpson - Lindsay has been arranged for the 5th March 2011 in Belfast. Is there any truth to this?

    Personally I thought Simmy would have fought Smith in Liverpool.

    Thoughts?

    Good news, Simpson's a classy boxer and person. The Belfast fight public would happily welcome him back to our city.:thumbsup

    Was a beautiful fight. Had pretty much all you could ask from any title fight.

    Simpson threw 901 punches to win that fight...he will have to do somewhere near to that again. He was on special form on Wednesday night.

    I hope the winner goes onto bigger things because you can't be having domestic wars like that for to long. Especially Simmo...he's the last of the true grinders.

    great news i would just like to say how billy nelson john simpson and ricky burns
    must be the three soundist blokes u could ever meet abosoutley top men it was a pleasure to meet them in the balmoral hotel after the fight .. fair play to billy he never stoped buying drink all night john and ricky have a new fan in me well done lads

    warren wont let simpson go back to ireland, he shouldn't have to, should be in glasgow!

    TBH Simmy fights better away from home, he would tell you that himself. Cant find anywere if the fight has been confirmed or not.

    It was a great fight on Weds, 2 excellent boxers and no dodgy decisions.

    Would be great to see a re-match, think Simmy would win again though. Hope he moves on to bigger and better things ;)

    I read in the daily record that simpson isnt interested in a rematch but wonts to have one defence then a european shot:huh

    I've looked on numerous websites also and cant find any confirmation. Think Raman Bharwaj maybe telling porkies :cool:

    Simpson will get a lot more money fighting in Ireland. And it's not like he got jobbed or something.

    I'd look to rematch Lindsay next and assuming his injury is right, Smith after.

    Then look for a world title fight, sod the European.

    Just found this article in the local paper:

    JOHN Simpson has hailed his stunning British featherweight title win as his finest hour — and now he wants to win the European crown.
    The Greenock fight star silenced a partisan Belfast crowd who watched in agony on Wednesday night as their favourite, Martin Lindsay, was soundly beaten by John, as he regained the British title, two-and-a-half years after he cruelly lost the belt.
    A superb performance by the 27-year-old comeback king defied all the pre-fight odds and gave him the win which means he gets a coveted Lonsdale belt for keeps, courtesy of his previous British title successes.
    John plans to make an early championship defence against Lindsay on Saturday 5 March but admits he is now desperate to take on Europe too.
    Speaking to the Tele at his Greenock home yesterday, John said: “I think it was the best performance of my career and I feel on top of the world to be honest."

    Stephen Smith. He beat Simpson back in September for the title.

    Rematch vs Smith with British and Euro titles on line is logical match.
