    this.

As Mayweather said "it isn't fun getting hit in the head". I would rather be 40 and being looked at as a possible fence HOF member, than a shoe in and not being able to remember that i fought and being unable to articulate words because of brain damage.

You might be surprised to realise that no one outside of American boxing fans gives a **** about the HOF.

That said, his achivements and fame are certainly greater than many of those already in there. So your argument doesn't really hold water.

Probably a good idea for Khan since he does not absorb punches very well.

It’s too early for him to say he’ll retire at 28, and it’s too early for us to hold him to that word. Plenty of fighters at a young age have said they’ll do this, that and the other. But not everything goes quite as planned, and they always end up altering their destinations a tad bit. Take Hopkins for example. He said he’d retire at 40 because his mother told him to. But here he is almost 6 years later, schooling a Canadian - 18 years his junior - in his hometown. A similar thing could happen to Khan. By the time he's reached 27/28, he may have a few more things left to prove and there may be a few more challenges out there for him. We just don't enough, yet.

perhaps he sees business plans and wants to do a "delahoya" a lot earlier..
bringing more fights from overseas to the states..etc?

If you are looking for passion and heart for the sport look no further than Hopkins. There's the blueprint for a passionate professional boxer right there.

Guys like Haye and Kahn (amongst others) do not give a flying f*** about the sport of boxing. Neither do they care about us boxing fans. All they are concerned about is getting money in the bank without getting hit and retiring early to enjoy their lifes.

For these guys boxing is merely a job that pays the bills. For guys like Hopkins boxing is a higher calling.

YEah! Hopkins is a Great Old school fighter who is ATG no question about that but then again all fighters can't be like him.
Second! Boxing is job! it's a 24/7 job for that.
Aaw you feel betrayed it sounded like you really have a hard time, and peopel in Africa think they have a hard time..

Well to be honest I guess it depends, if you are a guy like Malignaggi or jean pascal, I would search hard for big paychecks, but when im 30 and still prime and i already got enough money to be rich till I die, then that aspect is safe. after that I would just fight to improve my legacy until I notice a serious decline. It kind of depends if boxing is your life its difficult to stop but when you got many other hobbies and interests its no so weird to step away and do something else that makes you happy.

You people do realise that's 12-15 fights more, right?

What's wrong with that. Stop complaining about what other paths people choose.
