I'm watching a replay of it right now on Vs, and if this is the future of amateur boxing, the future looks damn good! These guys will get better seasoning from this than they ever would fighting nobodies professionally for 15 fights.

I don't know what ticket prices would go for, but this is the kind of thing that could provide a huge bang for the buck. I can't imagine there ever being a terrible live show with this format.

I was surprised by the level that I saw too. That Fernandez kid out of L.A. was like a pitbull.

These fights are non stop action.

What's with the dude Fowler who keeps getting cuts on the top of his head?

From what I have seen the WSB is a very good product.
The boxing is very high quility with very experanced boxers.
If the boxers who are part of the WSB had turned pro after the 2008 Olympics they would probbly be fighting 6 maybe 8 rounders against guys who were there to pad their records. Instead they are facing real chalanges. Some of these guys will come out of the WSB with 2 or 3 Olympics to their credit. I think the result will be that we will see a lot of these guys in profesional championship fights and quilfied to be in them very early in their careers.

Thing is.....they fight for Memphis, but they don't necessarily need to be from there.

I dunno but he's beating some whole sale ass right now, that round was definitely his. Other dude's way too squared up and isn't moving his head or body enough.

Gathered as much, with the ohio thing..

This phelps kid is ****ed. His hands are down, he's clinching, not making an effort to pump forward anysort of lead/jab... not looking good. He has a pretty solid chance to get KTFO in the next round or two.

    Yeah, that was a beatdown.

Some of these guys are really raw, but these short fights guarantee action. It's like reading the cliff notes of a book, you're not getting the best thing available, but you are getting what you are looking for.

PS- the middle weight bout isn't all bad either.
