What a ****ing idiot you are Seamus, but what can we expect from the man who declared: I had Chavez beating Whitaker :patsch
Hagler was not washed up, he was battering every MW. Benvenuti was getting his ass handed to him twice in 18months prior to facing Monzon and Valdez was a B Class MW who's footwork is worse than my 90yo grandads

When Carlos Monzon needed to turnn it on he could, like a machine.
Beautiful straight down the pike punches.

Could see this fight just like Hearns-Leonard I, with Carlos taking the first 5 Rounds in a row, then cruising until the 10th.
Then bombs away with a straightened up Leonard, finally taking him out in the 12th.

Monzon ain't no Hearns in the chin department.

People get confused. Leonard was rarely great above 147. He beat a faded, but not finished, Marvin by a split decision. He didn't fight anyone else of any note at the weight.

That's just about the only fight you've got to go on...

I expected a General Forumesque type of reply like that from you with that "nuthugger" ****..you don't have a clue, and that's made clear post after post. That's how you've gotten your comic book reputation.

You do have an extreme Monzon bias and to even suggest any of Monzon's opponents are on the level of Hagler makes you the joke :-(

It's an opinion driven forum..my high ranking of Monzon is reserved exclusively for the middleweight division, and it's the way I call it..like you do doubt have fighters that you're convinced of having supreme authority in certain divisions..whatever...it's a damned OPINION...you really should try hard to lose the infantile expression "nuthugger" (what are you, 12 years old?)..with it comes the dumbing down of this forum to the level of the general forum. Try to be more mature and intelligent in your argumentation or go swim with the fishes in the general forum.

Leonard would not have the power to hurt Monzon, and those fast flashy flurries
would have been nullified by Monzon, who was great in tieing up tough inside fighters.

The only way Leonard would have been able to fight him would be from the outside,
    right in Monzon's territory.

What really fast fighters did Monzon fight?...maybe Nino & Napoles....but Napoles was slow afoot.

  11. Carlos monzÓn was fast, was a hell of puncher, he had good chin, he had power to recover, he had long reach, good jab, good right, great heart of warrior, good stamina, he was very strong. Carlos monzÓn had everything to beat leonard. At middle ray was not as fast as he was at welter. And he would need more than a good foot work to defeat the best mw ever.

  12. i doubt seriously it, i think that leonard would outbox hagler always, you forget that leonard was not in his prime neither when he faced hagler.
But monzÓn had the style and the size to catch leonard(plus monzÓn had good chin, hearns not)

    Nino Benvenutti was fairly quick-fisted.
And Rodrigo Valdez, when in close, could rip-off fast power combinations.

If Marcos Geraldo could back-up Leonard for all 10 rounds, imagine what
Monzon would do, especially in his wheel-house rounds of 11 thru 15.
