Kahn's Body shots won him the fight! Kahn's lack of inside game almost lost it.

He can't tell his best product emmanuel how to block uppercuts either, so why would he be able to teach it to Amir?

 

I noticed that Khan was in trouble any time he started bouncing and trying to box from bouncing. He was good when he sat down and unloaded but you could almost feel that Maidana was timing him anytime he bounced away from the center of the ring. I thought to myself there was the difference between Khan and Mayweather (at least the version against Sugar Shane). When Mayweather moves, he does not get into a particular rhythm, while you could almost feel a crescendo effect as Maidana stalked Khan. Khan also did not appear to hold very well in the clinch.

 

I think Amir will learn these things if he's dedicated enough to teach himself by studying tape or by getting a different trainer. Teaching guys how to work on the inside doesn't seem to be roach's thing.

If I was in his shoes, I'd be watching Bernard Hopkins all day on my laptop.

 

Maybe he did do what you would do by watching James Toney. Did you see him try to shoulder roll 2-3 times during the fight when he had his back against the ropes?
