    Dan Rafael Blog:

Manny Pacquiao-Shane Mosley a bad fight for boxing...

From day one, Top Rank promoter Bob Arum had an agenda when it came to making Manny Pacquiao's next fight. He wanted to match him with Shane Mosley, and that is what he did, and he doesn't give a damn what anyone thinks.
He knows Mosley is an aging fighter who doesn't have a great chance to win, but he has a big name that general sports fans recognize, even if they don't realize he is not the same Shane Mosley of just a few years ago.
Arum doesn't care. He only wants to do what is best for himself, certainly not for boxing. He is going to put Mosley in the ring with Pacquiao soley because of name. It's a move that will squeeze out the last gasps of Mosley's once-outstanding career so Arum can generate another big payday while doing a disservice to real boxing fans who actually care about the matchups and not just a famous but faded name.
Forget all the nonsense we've heard since Pacquiao beat down Antonio Margarito, about how Pacquiao's next opponent was going to come from a list of Mosley, Juan Manuel Marquez and Andre Berto.

    :nut:lol:

LOL! While I don't wish that, but he sure does make me feel cynical towards all promoters. He's the perfect example of a stereotypical promoter. :thumbsup

i've watched all of Pacquiao's last couple PPV's legally and didn't regret any (maybe Clottey lol) but i just don't know if i will buy this PPV. not because the money cause i'm sure my friends would cover most of it but the fact i don't want to prove Arum right and score a million buys on this piece of **** fight.

Its time for boxing fans to tell Arum to **** off with their wallets.

    :think

Were you on the forum when Mayweather had his racist rant? Rafael criticized him for his odd behavior and the "*****s" just when nuts. In this blog entry he did criticize Arum, but he did say that Pac is culpable as well. Which is something I don't have a problem with... :deal

the writing is on the wall. arum already said before that he would make this fight and gave **** to boxing fans since "they would watch anyway". i am not really for this but his other choice of opponents is not to far off than this version of mosley when you consider that it was berto who is the other choice. jmm is not even proven at 140 to say that he is good opponent for pac at 140 to 147. yes this is only a money fight for pac and would hardly enhance his legacy. he could of fought berto but some criticism would also float and this is seen also as a mismatch with far less money.

the thing is there is only one way pac would not get **** from his haters. and that is to not fight or floyd to have his urge back.

It doesn't mater who wrote the Article because even Kevin Iole from Yahoo wrote a similar piece, Casual fans are gonna read those articles and when they find out they are sheep, hopefully they don't but into it.

so simple..he wants berto and jmm as potential fights but ended up with
mosley...what a frustration it was and associate it with many boxing fans
then we had a majority in the making. Is mr,rafael assuming already that
mosley will lose the fight by mentioning tarnishing his record. i view it as an
honor to fight the pacman, and so is mosley thats why he accepted the fight'
Hopkins took his chance with pascal..look at the old warrior...cannot mosley
    be offered the same chance..:nut

Arum basically said, **** what the real fans and media think, I'm gonna do what I please. So, it's up to the media and the real fans to criticise and expose these greedy frauds for trying to ruin boxing. The whole Pacquiao team has become a bunch of shady bullshitters.

and he even think that jmm had it over mosley...marquez was sent to canvass by katsidis who is much a slower fighter compared to the pacman today. Do you think jmm could go
over cotto and morales ? even maidana would give jmm a hell of a fight.

Pacquiao: I think I'd like to fight Marquez.
    Arum: Did you say Mosley?
Pacquiao: No, Marquez. We have unfinished business and we had two great fights.
Arum: Did you say Mosley, or did I hear you say Miguel Cotto for a rematch?
Pacquiao: Well, maybe Berto. He's a good, young fighter. He's very fast.
Arum: Mosley, that's what I thought you said.
Pacquiao: Bob, I think I definitely want the third fight with Marquez. That's what my coach, Freddie Roach, wants. That's what the fans want. That's what I want.
Arum: So if it's the fight with Mosley you want, then the fight with Mosley it shall be.
Pacquiao: Lock up Marquez, please. Let's get it done.
Arum: Fine, we'll get Mosley, whatever you say. You're the boss. Someone get me James Prince on the phone so we can lock this up.
