Nipper Daly - The youngest ever pro boxer aged 9?

Yeah, it's a shame. I wanted to release it in time for Christmas, but the editing, type-setting, etc. has just taken too long.

He was very well-known up till a few years ago. There were a couple of double-page articles on him in 'Boxing News' in the late 1980s, but it's only really the older generation that knows about him now. Although he was featured in the 'Boxing News' 100-year celebratory magazine thing that came out about a year ago.

 

Great to hear he lived to such a decent age despite the amount boxing must have taken out of him at such a young age what you have to consider is the fact that people reached puberty at a much later age then so it was literally a case of boy against man

Yeah, and he put a lot back into the game as well - he was a trainer for most of his life and never lost faith in boxing despite his rough experiences early on.

I met him but was only a young kid when he died.

This story is incredible! I was just telling my m8 (non boxing fan) about him and he even said it was a crazy story and wanted to no more!

 

Just been reading through the website, what an incredible lad he must have been. Top 10 ring ranked at just 16 :scaredas:

Can't believe more isn't written about him, you'd have to think with what was achevied at his age that he could have become one of UKs greatest ever.

Look forward to the book, maybe even a movie down the line!

I do watch and enjoy current boxing, but my real interest is the historical stuff.

There's no sport like it. Be it old-time boxing or modern boxing, the skill, dedication, determination and guts that are needed can't be found anywhere else.

It's the only sport I'd ever go out of my way to watch.
