Could Khan vs Alexander/Bradley in July sell out MGM Grand or Mandalay Bay???

I voted for 10,000 seat sell out, do not know why i did that now as i remember Khan only selling 5000 vs maidana and some of them would have been freebies, it is a damn shame khan cant fight in UK against some of these fighters as he can sell out many arena's.

I am preety sure bradley would be willing to fight in Uk if the purse is right as he fought for his title there before.

 

They should do like they did prior to Taylor vs. Pavlik I, have Khan and the winner fight on the same card in the same night on HBO, so as people could see them and get a "side by side" comparison. I would put them in competitive fights, but fights that allowed them to showcase their respective talents. Then have the lead up and I believe it would sell.

 

A fight of this significance deserves MGM Grand.

I agree. It seems these up and comers are not fighting enough. There is to much careful match-making at earlier stages in their careers. Fighters dont want to risk a tough fight until their 20-0. There needs to be more exposure for the young boxing stars to the casual fan. Every good fight now seems to be PPV. It's hard to get new fans to go out a pay for every good fight.

 

Don't know about that, Bradley already went to the UK once to take out Junior Witter.

 

I don't know how any of the venues would sell, and a 24/7 would be cool except that I believe it would have to be PPV. And this fight is to important to take any chance of fans not being able to watch it. It should be World Championship Boxing on HBO with at least a Countdown show the week before like they use to have b/c this fight is great for boxing.

 

Will not sell out. Klitschkos sell out though.

Its **** if khan can't sell out a US venue. He should bring the big fights to the uk where he sells out arena's.

Hbo paid him $1m for his maidana fight and he sold about 1,000 tickets (est) which would have meant Gbp made a loss on hosting at mandalay bay.

If he fought in the Bradley / Alexander in the UK, he might sell out a 10,000 seat venue bringing about $1m in ticket sales, plus higher sky ppv due to being on at a reasonable time. Hbo could then buy the rights to it at $500k as opposed to the usual $1m.

Net effect? Khan is $500k better off, UK fans get a fight they would appreciate.

It's a joke when a foty struggles to sell more than 1,000 tickets in the us.

 

Problem is darni, the majority of the 4,600 tickets were likely given away for free/ heavily subsidised. There's a thread on it in the Brit forum (khan maidana ppv numbers). in all likelihood only 20%would have been "paid" tickets, so about 1,000.
