Boxers with impressive early career resume's

Say what you want but after his first few Amir Khan has a strong record.

Surely you can name tons of fighters with better records within their first 24 fights.

How dare you even mention khans name among these greats, khan has not got the best early record in his own weight class yet alone in the entrie history of the sport.

 

He went the 12 rounds. Even his first fight was 10 rounds... lasted three

 

I'm not calling Khan a great fighter I'm just saying he's got a fair record for a young guy. (actually thinking about it he's already 24 so maybe not).

Muhammad Ali has the greatest early record.

 

Its not bad, archie moore, sonny liston x2 and floyd patterson in first 20ish fights.

Beibut Shumenov. Even though Campillo was robbed against him.

 

Saensak Muangsurin.

Picked up the WBC light-welterweight title in just his 3rd pro fight. Beat Testuo Furuyama in just his 2nd pro fight and also his 4th in a rematch (Furuyama had gone the distance with Perico Fernandez - the man who Muangsurin beat for his world title - and lost a split decision a year earlier, two years prior he went the distance with 140 great Antonio Cervantes).

5th fight he lost his title but via DQ (don't know the circumstances) to Miguel Velazquez, a veteran of 70 fights at the time with 66 wins, and was also the first man to beat Ken Buchanan, before Muangsurin dealt with him in 2 rounds in a rematch 4 months later. He also beat Guts Ishimatsu and Saoul Mamby inside 12 fights.

Quite an early record, not easy enough for a guy coming from a very solid Muay Thai background.

Veeraphol Saraprom also won a title early - in his 4th fight - against an opponent I don't know about but must of obviously been world level, so that's an achievement. He lost it in his next fight though and his oppositon after that is questionable.

 

Yeah not too long ago I saw he won a world title in so few fights. Was checking him out on boxrec as I remember him facing Thomas Hearns and having one weird ass style. Still had more success than most of Hearn's early opponents.

6th Pro fight- Montell Griffin

8th Pro fight- Byron Mitchell (Former WBA SM World Champion)

9th and 10th Pro fights- Gabrielle Campillo(WBA LH World Champion)

11th Pro fight- Viacheslav Uzelkov (IBA LH World Champion)

Pretty Impressive, though None of those guys should be World Champions of anything.

 

Plus unification with Juergen Braehmer in his 12th. Great early record for the modern era, especially for a guy who was a decent but not exceptional amateur.

 

Good fighter too- he won gold medal but was beaten from corner to post by the late great Floyd Paterson
