Cottos advisor:margarito fight in june after mayorga

mayorga is no tune up, he has a similar style to margo, is bigger and has a decent chin.

 

Dont say it too loud. But I have a bad feeling about this fight

 

Mayorga is too far past it to give Cotto any problems, especially when he has Manny Steward in his corner. Plus, if Mayorga has to get down to 154, that's going to suck.

 

cotto beats mayorga. should be a fun fight. not to mention the pre fight will be comical.

 

It's good for Cotto to be in there with a physical fighter again. Mayorga may not give him too much trouble, but he won't be lying down either, and his size and punch on top of his wildness make him formidable. It will be good for Cotto to slowly start being able to commit himself to fighting when he has to and boxing when he can. He used to push through a rough fight, and found out he can't take every punch and simply come out on top by pushing back. I think it's a good fight and good preparation for Margarito. He can't be scared to fight if he must, and he has to be prepared to box.

 

This could be a terrible, terrible mistake. Risk/reward-wise it's a move I'd never have him make. Mayorga is totally irrelevant but also totally dangerous to a fighter like Cotto.

 

Margarito shouldn't be in the ring again after that Pac beating.

 

I can't help but think Margarito stops Cotto late on again.
If this does happen I think that will be Cotto finished.

I'm going to go out and say Cotto close UD.

 

Do you know what I hope for? I hope Mayorga is very loud and very dirty during the months before the fights. May be that will inspire Cotto to train the way he needs to. A well trained Cotto shouldn't have any problems. But, if Cotto doesn't train hard, anything could happen. Mayorga still a big guy with a good punch

Steward Is an excellent trainer. But Cotto is very hard headed guy and used to do whatever he wants. His declined started when he separated from Evangelista. Evangelista might not the best trainer out there, but was able to keep Cotto in check for a long time. After that Cotto had a group that did everything he said. And you know the rest of the story.

I think he gets past Mayorga easily..
I would love to see him beat Margarito, although I think it's a very hard fight for him.
I think that he has the will to train VERY hard for Margarito (obv. the wrap scandal), and hopefully this gives him the mental advantage he needs.

Margarito gives him obvious problems however with size/reach advantage which makes it harder for Miguel to effectively use his jab and left hook..Could go either way imo but i'm rooting for Cotto 100%

 

Cotto is the man. Mayorga, Margarito and hopefully another great fighter in October November great 3 fights in a year for Cotto.

 

Wouldn't be surprised if Cotto gets knocked the **** out cold.

I also wouldn't be surprised if they change opponents and fight someone other than Mayorga.
