Floyd won and it wasnt close Oscar won a few rounds and looked good in others but ultimatley packed it in in the late rounds
Split decision against Oscar was a robbery. Again, check out HBO's crooked punch stats for the Martinez/Williams fight. I counted them in slow motion! I can't believe HBO did such a thing, but they sure did! Find out for yourself!
The fight wasn't close. The children in this thread who think otherwise couldn't score a fight to save their own lives. Floyd should have been less cautious considering how little Oscar brought to the fight.
Mayweather won 116-112 on my card, I have the R-B-R somewhere. But I wasn't too impressed with him, I thought this was an underwhelming performance. His defense was sharp as usual, but his offense was poor, despite what Compubox says. His punches so often just hit Oscar's gloves, who showed very effective parrying in this bout. He seemed overly concerned or worried about Oscar's power/size, and reluctant to commit. Eventually he got through with that left jab to the body, straight right to the head combo, but Floyd didn't exactly rise to the big event as I expected him to (and he has in other big fights).
In my opinion this whole fight was a let down, It was hyped up huge and it was a bit of a messy fight with both guys not really performing good, right now its just a fight but back then I thought it was a potential classic.
hehe, i showed this to a buddy and he said most of us are stupid for thinking floyd won. he called me an idiot, barked that oscar was robbed, and walked out. i wish i could talk some sense into the ****er, but i guess people believe what they want and thats all. i do wonder what rounds were scored for oscar by that third judge, hence the "split" decision.
DLH stopped punching.. doubt it had anything to do with Floyd but conditioning.. Can't believe there was talks about a sequel..and you know those 2 would have done it.
