For real? I cant believe I am having to explain this to you.

Southpaws are rare for a start
Its a completely new style to box against
They are used to boxing an orthodox they are not used to seeing you

FFS man use your common sense are you really that dense? I know you dont even box. But why wont you fcuk off to a kick boxing forum your opinion is invalid here. Its here either name calling or kiss people asses. :-((

    Well that's irrelevant...

    True.

That's pretty much what you said above.

Is that it? You basically said the same a few times... I thought I was going to learn something new. Where's the hundreds of reasons?

My opinion is invalid? Why is that? Because what I said about the jab being a set up punch is right? You'll have to explain how me being a kickboxer makes my opinion wrong even though it's right.

I'm sure you're laughing right now thinking I'm just some guy from the internet bet let me tell you now boy you messed with the wrong mother****er. I've had training with any team of spec ops warriors you can think of. I'm already one of the best in my state in clandestine ops and I can hit a dinner plate at 350yards with a H&K Mark 23 mod 0 .45 caliber pistol. My uncle infiltrated the secret Egyption Commando group called Thunderbolt 777 and nobody even noticed him. He trained with them and even did HALO jumps in the sinai with them and he didnt even know how to speak arabic. This ist me bragging this is just to tell you that you're messing with some of the baddest mother****ers in the country.

Are you encouraged to switch stance when you kickbox? I kickbox and we are. The reason being that that if you kick with your rear foot the natural move is to land in a switched stance (i.e. southpaw if you start off orthodox).

It makes a lot of sense for me when kickboxing cause I'm right handed but left footed so switching to southpaw makes my powerful foot my rear one, so I can really mix it up (so much I occasionally confuse myself ;))

Can't we just ban this ****ing ******?

And yes, mcguirpa. I switch stance a lot but only due to my kicking.

Isn't this guy the weedy little nerd that BB exposed? I'm pretty sure a mod or someone has taken over his account to troll the forums.
The only time a southpaw has any sort of advantage is when the southpaw and orthodox facing each other are beginners. Any decent orthodox boxer is going to be able to handle a southpaw after a little bit of practice, you both have two fists.

I second that, your real question should be, how can I get more power in my jab and I say get yourself a medicine ball

Have you tried pivottaly stepping out of the way with a 3 followed by 1? I find it a 'blessing in disguise' when the opponent is charging at you, which makes your opponent predictable, hence, take advantage of his momentum and meet him with a 5 or 6... or like I said above, hook & get out the way with a jab. At least I like doing that.

Although we don't see it everyday, Mike Tyson, evander holyfield, Tommy Morrison, George Foreman, Riddick Bowe, Roy Jones etc have knocked people down or even out cold with a jab/stiff jab. Everything else you said, I concur.
