Yes cause the tops yanks were just begging to come over to europe to fight joe wasnt they ??
Er no they wernt, they wanted nothing to do with him.
I wonder why.
Maybe because when they needed joe, and he fought them, he beat them, just like he would have done in there prime.
To many of you yanks shout joe down, without looking at how well traveled there own fighters were.

I disagree with that. Did you see the Johnson fight? He looked terrible and just didn't have the foospeed anymore to get around Johnson to avoid being on the ropes. The third Tarver fight was also a bad performance on Roy's part and these fights happened 3 years before the Calzaghe fight. Roy looked good against a fellow shot fighter(Trinidad) and B class opposition but that's it. He was a shell much before fighting Calzaghe.

 

^ Had Jones not been shot and losing by 2 KOs, you know there would have been no Jones-Calzaghe match. Had Jones been still in winning form Calzaghe would have just continued hiding out in Wales fighting more Frank Warren bums.

The sad part is that people actually believe all of the above.

 

True but Calzaghe nuthuggers fail to understand this. I say nuthggers because they are blind to the truth(nothing wrong with being a Calzaghe fan).I respect Joe myself but can't deny that he wanted no part of Roy unless Roy was shot. I heard Calzaghe himself even say he wouldn't face a "shot Jones" in a book about him.

 

Jones admitted he didn't want any part of Calzaghe when he was in his prime.

Too unknown, too aggressive and a southpaw were his reasons.

what i loved about the jones fight was that jones had lost to 2 fighters before simply because of roys fraudulent glass jaw, however, jones lost to calzaghe by simply getting his head boxed off with skills and not through power :yep

Calzaghe was an ATG fighter, and left the game undefeated. Deal with it pig ****ers.

 

I blame both Hopkins & Jones for not facing Calzaghe earlier but they have wins to fall back on. Calzaghe's biggest wins include Jones & Hopkins when they were old so it does more damage to Joe than it does to RJJ or Hopkins.

 

I know and people do this because they know Calzaghe's legacy is limited so they try to add more to it anyway they can. I respect Joe Calzaghe don't get me wrong but he didn't have enough tests to truly prove his greatness. Not saying he's not great but everyone knows he could've at least tried to do more.
