THE BIG VOTE. Who was the greatest of these stand-outs of our era?

    Without wishing to cause a riot, I consider

    the four stand-outs of our era (definition: fighters who started in the 90s and were still forces in the 2000s), and I think most knowledgable and/or objective boxing fans would disagree.

    In terms of all-time career pound-for-pound greatness, I personally would have

    in 5th place, and since it's my thread, I'm going with that. :D

    So, who do you have 6th? I have included as many options as possible (including some I do not think come close to deserving 6th place, but hey, it is supposed to be a BIG VOTE, so there are 10 options).

    Criteria:

    - Resume/Record (quality of opponents, quality of performances)
    - Ability When Prime (subjective assessment of in-ring effectiveness)
    - Achievements/Accomplishments (titles, weight-jumping, p4p status during career)
    - Longevity (probably not worth as much as the other three categories, but still worth mentioning)

    FYI, I haven't included Ricardo Lopez or James Toney. Both guys' primes were in the early 90s IMO, so I feel that's just a bit too long ago for this poll.

    Felix Trinidad has always been my idol. He look so unbeatable before he lost to hopkins. He should have not taken couple of years off after 2001 cuz he could have still achieve great things.

    I would have love to see him fight shane-oscar and vernon forrest @ 154

    Only one to have a W against the number one of this era in this decade, and aside from that win, still has a very solid resume.

    I'd probably go with Barrera, though it is VERY close. He beat Morales twice(I thoguht the second was a draw, IIRC), beat a string of decent fighters before the first fight, beat Hamed, Tapia, Kelley, Fana, Ayala and Juarez also and is a 7 time world champion at 3 different weights. He was an excellent fighter in his prime, he could counter(especially later in his career when his style became a little more refined) and he could most definitely go to war when he had to. His offensive arsenal was brilliant and the way he was able to go from head to body was nothing short of exceptional. Great fighter, a ledgend and I hope he comes to his senses and retires.

    Personally I would have Marco Antonio Barrera in that position based on the criteria you mentioned with Morales and Mosley in a similar sort of group.

    Felix Trinidad
    Joe Calzaghe
    Kostya Tszyu
    Jose Luis Castillo

    Maybe something in that order, but I wouldn't argue with anybodys' opinion who mixed each of those two groups up.

    The two wins over de la Hoya and his win over Margarito at that age (making his fight with a prime Cotto so so close when he was clearly past his prime plays a bit role too.) Popkins did also list some other criteria.

    Also a healthy dose of bias.
