I like the way the article says he's only the second man to stop PRIDE legend Big Nog... Because that's relevant.... Oh well UFC better come up with something in between. Ooo i know an interim title!

Nope. This is unique to the UFC. Its always been this way since the veterans like Coleman Kerr etc made their exodus to PRIDE for the bigger bucks. Historically the division has always been ass.
The UFC doesn't attract the best heavys simply because they're not willing to shell out the big bucks for their glamour division and additionally they want all options on their fighters. Big no no for alot of heavys that make money elsewhere and via other means.

so you do agree with me then?? i know why a lot of them dont fight in the ufc because they can make more outside. i think dana should make it his mission to add more depth to the heavy division.

If he hasnt been able to do it since the Zuffa bought PRIDE he's not going to be able to do it now. Right now he needs some "brand" fighters as this is what the UFC thrives off. Their heavy division will always be mediocre. Theres nothing that will change about that as long as Dana is at the helm and as long as they can sell their prospects as legitimate fighters. Right now the only guys at heavy that interest me are Cain JDS and possibly Carwin. The rest frankly are flotsam and that includes Mir and Brock.
The combined top 4 UFC ranked heavys have less fights than Overeem alone. This shows the painful lack of experience in the UFC and the reason why their title is always changing hands and has done for years. The experienced ones they **** off and leave Monson Silva AA etc and the rookies are left which they pay peanuts. Its just business nothing more or less.

Dos Santos needs to fight in the mean time, he's already been out of action for too long.

So who will JDS be fighting for the interim?

Anderson should step up. chance of a lifetime

  12. As an avid Zuffa and UFC fan im seriously sick and tired of the game Dana and his management is playing. Cain and JDS's reputation is being ruined because of looonnggg layoffs. The UFC really doesnt have any other valid and active HW fighter apart from JDS (is Cain gets sidelined). Whatever happened to the the best fighting the best and the best fighting 3 times a year. at these rate we would be lucky to see their top HW fight once per year.......any they are in the same promotion.

That seems like the obvious fight if they do go for an interim/#1 contender bout.

I have a feeling they'll just put JDS on the shelf until Cain returns though, it generally takes an extreme layoff like Brocks to get them give someone another fight.

This just proves the reality of how "thin" the division actually is. Rothwell and Struve in their top 10? Are you kidding me?
