he stated "i still want a crack at cotto at 155, the fight did not materialize in march because they chose an easy opponent in mayorga.I just put a hard one on top rank in beating pavlik and than beating one of the most dangerous men in boxing, they will not expose cotto juse yet. If all goes well in march hopefully me and cotto can get it on. cotto is slated to fight mayorga and then margarito in june after that if cotto is available all my guns lead towards him."

The guy is a three weight world champ. We know all about him we need to know and he showed big improvements in his last fight. You don't expose a guy like Cotto. He is doing the smart thing in taking a easy fight- personally im annoyed they chose a recycled overweight shot Mayorga rather than a Powal Wolek or Bundrage. They are hardly gonna beat Cotto are they, start showing the fans these younger fighters rather than recyling these old boxers. But if Cotto fight Martinez I think he will lose and he will lost because stylistically he does not match well with Martinez IMO. Go for Angulo on Puerto Rican Parade day (if the Mexican can fight in the US, not sure). That to me is one hell of a fight and not a massive downgrade from Cotto-Margarito. In fact Angulo hits a lot harder than Margo- gotta be a exciting one while it lasts.

I feel for Martinez. This guy just got all this fame to him now and nobody wants to fight him now.

Martinez should challenge middleweights not superwelters.

  5. Martinez should shut the **** up and fight some fighters his own size.

He wants to fight Pacquiao and Cotto. Who's he going to call out next? JMM?

Why doesn't he face some middleweights or super middleweights instead?

I guess I should expect this for a guy who feels he needs to get paid now since he is getting older. Time to cash in... with the smaller guys I guess.

I have no right what to tell a boxer should do but he should fight MW and SMW fighters instead.

Why give him a hard time when he all he wants is to become a big name like Pac or Floyd? Sergio can't do that fighting Pirog or Sturm. 155 isn't out of the question since Pac, Cotto, and Floyd can all fight in that class if they really wanted to. Margarito weighed 165 when he fought Pac. If Sergio agrees to weigh no more than 165, why shouldn't he get the same opportunity Margarito had?

And the conspiracy theorist about re-hydration clause will have a field day.

Why is it OK for Martinez to cash in but not for other boxers? You can't be arbitrary who you apply that argument.

If PBF, Pac and JMM gets shitted on for cashing in, so should Martinez.

As they say, "Welcome to the limelight."

Lol, Martinez is pulling a Hopkins calling out welterweights and jr middles. He should just fight Pirog with Cotto unavailable and strengthen his credentials. I hope he doesn't take a soft option for his next fight to wait on Cotto.

Martinez is in the unenviable position of being on top of the smallest mountain in boxing, with nowhere else to go and nothing to do but shout at those above him.

If he wants to fight Pac, Cotto or Floyd, he will have to come down, because he is desperate and up until his last fight was not very well known at all.

Cotto/Margarito II would have twice the PPV numbers of a Cotto/Martinez fight.

Boo in his defense there is no one availible for him to fight in that division except a green Pirog and a chump Jacobs

I would love to see Pavlik fight Abraham and the winner face Martinez

Big bucks are in the welter/superwelters, and martinez is calling floyd/pac/cotto for $$$. WTF is wrong with boxing today? That's why we dont get to see quality fights, aint it right pac? Floyd?
